Gen Offers Hope for Psoriasis Treatment

GEN shared Phase 2 clinical trial results for GN-037 topical cream, an innovative drug developed in its in-house R&D laboratories.

GEN, one of Turkey's fastest-growing pharmaceutical companies, shared promising results from studies conducted on GN-037 topical cream, which it developed for the treatment of psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a recurrent, chronic skin disease that can manifest in various clinical forms. The disease shows varying prevalence across different populations and geographic regions, occurring in 1.5-2 percent of the general population. Approximately 70-80 percent of psoriasis patients have limited or localized disease and are managed with topical therapy alone. In this regard, topical therapy is the most common treatment approach in psoriasis management. According to current information, it is estimated that approximately 1,300,000 psoriasis patients exist in Turkey, with approximately 900,000 of them being treated with topical medications.

GN-037 topical cream, with formulation developed in GEN's R&D laboratories and in the clinical trial development phase, aims to provide an innovative solution for the treatment of mild to moderate plaque-type psoriasis. The Phase 2 clinical trial results of GN-037, following Phase 1 clinical trial results published in 'Dermatology and Therapy', one of the most respected and prestigious scientific journals internationally, were presented at the 2024 Congress of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology held in Amsterdam between 25-28 September 2024.

According to the announcement, based on data from a total of 190 volunteers with mild to moderate plaque-type psoriasis enrolled from 19 research centers in Turkey in the Phase 2 clinical trial, topically applied GN-037 cream provided statistically significantly more effective and superior therapeutic success compared to placebo-treated patients.
