Furniture and Wood Products Exports Surpass $5 Billion

Turkey's Exporters Assembly (TİM) released August 2024 export figures. The furniture, paper and forest products sector, which exported USD 706 million in the previous month, achieved USD 666 million in exports in August. The sector reached USD 5.1 billion in exports during the first eight months of 2024, with the United States showing the highest increase in export share at 23.55%, while Iraq was the top export destination with USD 711 million.

Turkey's August 2024 export data was shared by Turkey's Exporters Assembly (TİM). The country reached USD 22.1 billion, the highest August export figure on record. The furniture, paper and forest products sector, which exported USD 677 million in August 2023, recorded USD 666 million in exports in the same month this year.

The sector achieved USD 5.1 billion in exports during the first eight months of the year, with Iraq topping the list of countries receiving the most exports at USD 711 million. The United Kingdom ranked second with USD 285 million, followed by the United States in third place with USD 249 million in exports. The list continued with countries including Germany, Libya, Iran, Morocco, France, Romania and Georgia, while the United States saw the highest increase in export share at 23.55%.

Moving forward confidently toward our future targets

Despite global trade disruptions and economic fluctuations resulting from international crises, the furniture, paper and forest products sector continues to move forward confidently in exports in line with its targets. In his assessment of the sector's August export performance, Erkan Özkan, Chairman of the Istanbul Furniture, Paper and Forest Products Exporters Association, stated: "As a result of stable efforts in production, employment and exports, our country continued to break records in exports in August. As the furniture, paper and forest products sector, we contributed USD 666 million to Turkey's August exports of USD 22.1 billion. Thanks to our international promotional activities, the trade fairs we participate in and various business events, we have maintained stable exports since last year. We especially want to continue the momentum we have achieved since the beginning of the year. Our manufacturers are working with intense energy toward our year-end target of USD 8 billion in exports. We believe that with the stability we have achieved, we will continue to increase our long-term contribution to our country."
