DowAksa's Innovative Support for Women's Empowerment

DowAksa has taken another step in strengthening the principle of workplace equality through work uniforms designed specifically to meet the needs of female employees. Having launched the "Women in Leadership Initiative" last year, DowAksa now supports the comfort of female workers through work uniforms designed exclusively for women under this programme.
As part of the 'Women in Leadership Initiative' established by DowAksa in line with its vision of becoming a center of excellence in equality and inclusion, the company designed work uniforms specifically for female employees. The project was shaped by feedback from female workers at the company's Yalova facility and recommendations from the Works Council. Continuing its commitment to increase blue-collar female employment, DowAksa has advanced its mission to support women's workforce by implementing a project to design work uniforms tailored for female employees. Health, Safety and Environment Manager Ebru Tuygan, noting that the project was developed in line with requirements arising from increased female employment at the operational level, commented on the process as follows:
"Garments designed according to male body dimensions created an uncomfortable working environment for our female employees. Working in uncomfortable clothing makes it difficult for individuals to concentrate and affects work productivity. Based on the feedback we received, we have taken steps to ensure that our female employees wear comfortable and aesthetically appropriate work uniforms. The new designs are of great importance both aesthetically and in terms of productivity. Our employees feel more comfortable and secure in their new uniforms."
Tuygan noted that the new uniforms were prepared with materials and cuts suitable for female employees' body proportions and added: "We conducted careful work particularly on upper body lengths, waist cuts and trouser sizes. As a result, we achieved designs that increase our employees' motivation and productivity."
"New Designs Increased Productivity"
Recalling that DowAksa has signed the UN Global Compact and adopted the Women's Empowerment Principles, Tuygan emphasized that the project is not merely a uniform design; it is also a reflection of commitment to equality and women's workforce. Tuygan also noted that special work has been carried out for pregnant employees, such as trousers designed with elastic waistbands, and stated that the company will continue with similar projects and innovative initiatives aimed at female employees.
