As Troya Proses, we have long served as the Turkish representative for Flottweg, one of the world's leading manufacturers of centrifuges for industrial solid-liquid separation. Flottweg was founded in Germany in 1932. Our Flottweg product range includes decanter centrifuges, belt presses and separator equipment, widely used in the chemical, mining, food and pharmaceutical industries as well as in ore enrichment and wastewater treatment facilities. With Flottweg decanters, two-phase separation of solids and liquids is possible, while Flottweg tricanters enable the separation of three different phases—solid-liquid-liquid or solid-solid-liquid—in a single piece of equipment. The operating principles of Flottweg centrifuges comply with all applicable environmental legislation. Due to their gas-tight design, they are highly suitable for use in explosive and/or hazardous environments. All product-contact surfaces of our equipment use high-quality duplex stainless steel. When required by the process, corrosion-resistant super duplex steel or Hastelloy alloy can also be used. For processes involving highly abrasive materials, wear components are replaceable in place for ease of maintenance and repair. One of the worldwide most preferred applications of Flottweg decanters is the separation of paint sludge.

What is Paint Sludge?

In the automotive industry, painting of vehicles—fully or partially—takes place through spraying in paint booths. During this process, some of the paint particles disperse into the booth air as mist. To remove this paint mist, called overspray, from the booth, water is exchanged with air. The substance called paint sludge is a mixture of water and excess spray paint.

Why Must Paint Sludge Be Dewatered?

According to the Waste Management Regulation dated 2 April 2015, numbered 29314, paint sludge classified as hazardous waste under code 080113* as "paint and varnish sludges containing organic solvents or other hazardous substances" incurs high costs during disposal. Dewatering by centrifuge, one of the most effective methods, significantly reduces disposal costs by decreasing the volume of sludge to be treated.

Why Should Flottweg Decanters Be Preferred in the Dewatering Process?

• Sludge volume is reduced by up to 90% through efficient sludge dewatering performance. • Disposal costs are significantly reduced. • Coagulant and flocculant costs are minimized. • Treated process water can be reused, providing significant savings in fresh water consumption. • Maintenance costs are very low. • Special wear protection is available for paint sludge processing. • Due to its compact design, it requires minimal floor space. As Troya Proses and Flottweg, we provide service throughout all stages—from commissioning our specialized systems to maintenance and repair activities during the operational period. With our high-quality products and experienced service personnel, we are always by your side with our after-sales support for trouble-free operation.
