Baymak Introduces Neutralization Tank Solution
Sustainability As part of its sustainability approach, Baymak has undertaken a corporate social responsibility project in Izmir, offering a solution to the acidic wastewater problem caused by condensing boilers to nature and living organisms through a 'neutralization tank'.
Baymak Sales and Marketing Director Pınar Canlı states, "The neutralization tank raises the pH value of the condensation liquid, which is 3.5, to the 7-8 levels of the water we drink."
The air conditioning sector continues to develop by adding new technologies each year. In a sector where smarter products are designed that increase living standards and service quality in buildings, reduce energy consumption and have less impact on the environment, high-efficiency condensing products are offered for consumer use.
Condensing boilers that meet our heating and hot water needs provide savings in the range of 25-35 percent monthly consumption and a reduction of one-third in bills. With the implementation of the Energy Related Products (ERP) Regulation, which is being phased in EU countries, becoming mandatory in Turkey as of 21 April 2018, condensing boilers have a different operating principle than hermetic boilers.
That is to say; condensing boilers increase overall efficiency by recovering water vapor in the exhaust gas produced as a result of natural gas combustion and normally discharged through the chimney, thanks to a special heat exchanger. However, as a result of this operating system, wastewater is produced in condensing boilers. The absence of drainage lines in the piping of many buildings causes problems for consumers during condensing boiler installation.
The fact that the acidic liquid formed by the mixture of exhaust gas and water vapor is of a structure that can harm living organisms is also a major issue. For this reason, the wastewater must be directed to a closed sewer, in other words, a condensation drainage line must be installed as an additional requirement in the condensing boiler installation process.
pH Value Rises to Drinking Water Level
Baymak, among the pioneers of energy transformation, has implemented a pilot project in Izmir to provide a solution to the wastewater problem of condensing boilers in this context. Pınar Canlı states that they provided the 'Neutralization Tank' free of charge to consumers in Izmir for boilers that experience closed sewer connection problems due to reasons such as old building structures, "With our project supporting a sustainable future, we aim to protect not only air quality but also water quality. We view this project as a corporate social responsibility initiative." Stating that the neutralization tank raises the pH value of the condensation liquid, which is 3.5, to the 7-8 levels of the water we drink, Canlı adds, "Through this, we prevent the acidic water produced from condensing boilers and mixed into nature from harming the environment and living organisms."Advertisement
