Raman Spectroscopy is an easy-to-use analytical technique that can identify liquids and solids within seconds. The sharp characteristics of the Raman spectrum enable obtaining a unique fingerprint for each substance. In this way, each chemical structure (even isomers and polymorphs) can be distinguished in any matrix. Raman Spectroscopy can analyze a few milligrams or microliters of sample using a small focal point. Systems equipped with raster sampling (e.g. ORS) have the capability to average over larger sample areas, thereby overcoming sample heterogeneity while maintaining spectral resolution and even mapping separate components within a heterogeneous mixture. Raman Spectroscopy requires no sample preparation and can perform measurements from within many container materials. The fact that the technique requires no reagents or special materials also means it does not generate waste. As Metrohm, in addition to being one of the world's largest manufacturers of Raman Spectroscopy diode-based light source components (IPS), we work to provide you with the most appropriate solutions for your needs across a wide range of applications, from routine substance identification to complex research and development work, through our various portable and handheld Raman spectrometer solutions. Within our webinar, we aim to present informative and comprehensive information encompassing the fundamentals, advantages, latest technological developments and application examples of Raman spectroscopy, which stands out with application solutions ranging from academic studies to industrial applications. Some of the topics we will cover in our webinar content:
- History of Raman Spectroscopy, Raman theory and basic concepts
- Comparison of Raman Spectroscopy with molecular spectroscopy methods
- Surface-enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS)
- Structure of Raman spectrometers, system components, lasers, detectors and scanning technologies
- Advantages of Raman Spectroscopy and typical applications
