Artificial Intelligence Era in Industry: Mobile Robots Get Smarter with AXIS

The AXIS project will be launched through a collaboration between Siemens Türkiye, İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE), evosoft Hungary Kft. and Óbuda University, as part of an R&D project supported by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH).

Under a research and development project supported by Turkey's Scientific and Technological Research Council (TÜBİTAK) and Hungary's National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH), the AXIS project will be implemented through collaboration between Siemens Turkey, Izmir University of Economics (İYTE), evosoft Hungary Kft. and Óbuda University.

The AXIS project aims to develop a platform that manages centralized and distributed artificial intelligence agents for industrial mobile robots. The project will be supported by industrial 5G infrastructure and mobile applications within the framework of the smart manufacturing systems vision.

Artificial Intelligence Agents in Smart Manufacturing
The AXIS platform will enable different types of robots—such as quadruped robots, wheeled mobile robots, AGVs and robotic arms—to perform complex tasks through autonomous movement, collaboration and multi-agent methods. The platform supports:

-Autonomous route planning and navigation
-Real-time data collection with sensor fusion
-3D spatial scanning and digital twin creation
-Task management through artificial intelligence agents
-Intelligent data interpretation and visual inspection

The platform aims to increase quality and reliability in industrial fields through applications such as reading measurement devices, thermal inspection and fault detection.

International and Multi-Institutional Collaboration
The AXIS project is being carried out by four leading institutions:

Siemens Turkey: Conducting research on centralized and distributed AI agent architecture, industrial automation, 5G integration and digital twin studies.
evosoft Hungary Kft.: Providing seamless operator interaction through a centralized data platform, web-based control and XR integration.
Óbuda University: Developing sensing, SLAM, navigation and dynamic environment modules.
İYTE: Leading research in task allocation algorithms and multi-robot collaboration.
