Gaziantep to Host 7th International Conference on Material and Polymer Science

Gaziantep, Turkey's Polymer Center, is preparing to host the 7th International Congress of Materials and Polymer Science through the Chemical Engineers Association.

The Chemical Engineers Association is honored to organize this year's 7th International Science Congress Of Materials and Polymers – ISCMP.

Congresses have evolved beyond being merely academic gatherings worldwide. Participants from different professional backgrounds both domestically and internationally come together to exchange ideas and share views on specific topics. In recent years, congresses have begun playing a critical role in enabling scientists to transfer their long-standing research and analyses from laboratory settings into industrial production processes. The term Industry 4.0, defined at an industrial fair in Europe in 2011, particularly demonstrates how congresses contribute to the process of converting academic work into mass production.

For 14 years, the Chemical Engineers Association has achieved successful outcomes through congresses organized at national and international levels in collaboration with the Ministries of Agriculture and Health, covering fields such as cosmetic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, food chemistry, environmental chemistry and polymer chemistry. This year, the Association is pleased to undertake the organization of the 7th International Congress of Materials and Polymer Science. Gaziantep, which holds the title of Turkey's largest Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), will open its doors to this important event under the hosting of the Chemical Engineers Association's Southeastern Anatolia Branch, as one of the cities where polymers are most widely used. The Polymer Science Congress, previously held in Balkan countries such as Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo, will bring together the industrial and scientific worlds between 10-13 October 2024 in Gaziantep with the aim of addressing current developments in the polymer sector and presenting scientific solutions.

It is noted that the greatest economic impact of ongoing scientific advances worldwide is seen in the chemical industry. The polymer industry, one of Turkey's important production sectors, carries out production with 80 percent import dependency in raw material supply. To reduce this ratio and achieve Turkey's export targets, one of the most effective methods is integrating international scientific papers with modern technology within the framework of R&D work and transferring them into mass production in the chemical industry. The Chemical Engineers Association, drawing on experience gained from previous congresses and support from industrialists, believes that this transition will take place on a larger scale at this year's Polymer Congress.

Among the congress's main topics will be polymer applications, thermoplastic and thermoset polymers, supramolecular polymers, plastic technology, materials science and engineering, biopolymers, smart nanotechnological surfaces and recycling technologies. Additionally, Green Industry Projects, a key component of the "2053 Net Zero Emissions" vision, which is one of the most important topics in recent years, will be addressed in congress presentations.

The Chemical Engineers Association invites all sector professionals to the 7th International Congress of Materials and Polymer Science, to be held between 10-13 October 2024 at the Gaziantep S-Class Hotel Convention Center, to share knowledge and experience, learn about sector innovations and shape the future. The Association also shares the words of the founding leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk: "My spiritual legacy is science and reason. Those who wish to adopt me after my time will be my spiritual heirs if they accept the guidance of reason and science on this fundamental axis," emphasizing that it is progressing in the direction of inheriting Atatürk's legacy.
