High-Performance Polyurethane Coatings

Polyurethane self-leveling coating systems are floor coating systems designed according to their intended use area, providing mechanical, chemical and high-temperature resistance, with a glossy or non-slip matte surface finish. They are sound-absorbing systems with crack-covering capability, high wear resistance, flexible or rigid, easy to clean, hygienic and can be enhanced with antistatic properties. Additionally, they can be applied in different colors. Polyurethane coatings with wide areas of application are suitable for use in hospitals, factories, hotels, offices, repair shops, roofs, balconies, pools and parking lots. Their antibacterial properties, ability to incorporate antistatic characteristics and waterproofing properties make these products unique. Use on high-moisture surfaces is not recommended. Cleaning the surface before use with partial drying will be sufficient. On high-moisture surfaces, polyurethane primer with moisture barrier can be applied to bring surface adhesion to the highest level. Since polyurethane coating shows rapid curing properties, it can be opened to partial foot traffic within 6 hours. It is fully usable after 24 hours.

Polyurethane coating consists of 3 components. Component A is a polyol mixture, component B is prepolymers prepared as aliphatic and aromatic according to the intended use area, component C is an additive used to enhance properties according to the surface to be coated. Since component C contains solid material, it is used by mixing thoroughly with component A before use. Component C consists of solid powder materials that affect adhesion grade, surface matte finish, fire resistance and similar properties. Polyol can be used at a rate of 60-90%. The high ratio of solid matter loading that improves properties without changing quality allows the material to be cost-reduced. Materials mixed by hand or with a drill can be used during the pot life period. Pot life duration is adjusted according to the area of use and quantity of material used. Since these durations decrease with temperature increase, attention must be paid during use. The period may be shorter in hot areas. It is not recommended to apply polyurethane material at low temperatures below 50°C. Non-adhesion in the material and other problems will come along with it. With limiting temperature ranges present, it offers a wide area of application. Easy usability and high price-performance characteristics in coating systems provide advantages for polyurethane coatings. While being lower in cost compared to other coating systems, the material's performance is significantly better. The most important issue to be considered with the material is selecting the material according to its intended use area. Solid matter required for use and polyurethane coating materials produced according to the intended use area will increase performance.
