Water is the most commonly used solvent in our laboratories, irrespective of application. Unfortunately, deviations resulting from water are often overlooked in our work. With its years of experience in laboratory water systems, accumulated knowledge and continuous research and development efforts, Merck has remained the key solution partner for researchers in minimizing water-related errors in their applications.

Merck, the inventor of ultrapure water, is proud to introduce the revolutionary Milli-Q® IQ 7000 system to researchers worldwide on the 50th anniversary of the Milli-Q® brand, which has become synonymous with ultrapure water in the literature. Quality

In water purification systems, the removal of organic matter is as important as the removal of ionic content from feed water. The Milli-Q® IQ 7000 features a new-generation ech2o oxidation lamp that emits radiation at 172 nm wavelength for photo-oxidation of organics and is mercury-free. Additionally, the system includes a TOC monitor for measuring Total Oxidizable Carbon (TOC) content. This monitor can perform TOC measurements in the range of 0.5–999.9 ppb. Maintaining and monitoring ionic and organic contaminants at minimum levels in ultrapure water is critical. For this reason, the new Milli-Q® IQ 7000 is equipped with much more sensitive, temperature-compensated in-line conductivity cells to ensure the quality of the ultrapure water produced. Development and validation studies from our Global Research and Development department show that the ionic separation capacity of the Milli-Q IQ 7000 is well below the conductivity detection limit. Furthermore, the integrated TOC monitor in the system has been designed according to the most requested standards such as USP 〈543〉 and 〈645〉.

Point of Use

With the Q-POD unit, the Milli-Q® IQ 7000 can provide ultrapure water of different qualities through interchangeable final filter units at the point of withdrawal to meet different application needs. With the final filters used in Q-PODs, you can obtain ultrapure water of the appropriate quality for your applications. These final filters are as follows: • Millipak® Filter with 0.22 μm pore size for bacteria and particle-free water. • Biopak® Final filter for protease-free, nuclease-free (DNA and RNA) water. • VOC-Pak® Final filter for volatile organic compounds analysis water. • LC-Pak® Final filter for ultratrace organic analysis water. • EDS-Pak® Final filter for endocrine disruptor analysis water. Up to 4 Q-POD distribution units can be connected to a single Milli-Q® IQ 7000 system. This allows researchers working in different application areas from the same system to obtain their ultrapure water needs at the quality required by their applications. Water produced with Q-POD can be dispensed up to 5 meters away from the main unit installed. Considering this distance, in addition to more flexible working areas in laboratory design, it enables system installations in different configurations (benchtop, under-bench, wall-mounted, etc.) in space-constrained areas. With the Q-POD installed up to 5 meters away, monitoring and system traceability remain at your fingertips. With the help of the 5-inch touchscreen on the Q-POD, you can control all processes within the system and create desired commands from there.

Water Dispensing

With the Milli-Q® IQ 7000, you can automatically prepare ultrapure water needs from 20 ml to 100 L with programmable volumetric dispensing without waiting at the dispenser. In addition to this automatic volumetric dispensing feature, the auxiliary dispensing mode feature makes the Milli-Q® IQ 7000 unique. Here, the automatic dispensing mode initiated for a desired volume switches to drop mode before reaching the desired amount and eliminates the need for sterile pipette use, providing time and cost savings. With each ultrapure water withdrawal from the Milli-Q® IQ 7000, information related to that withdrawal is archived in the system memory. This archiving includes not only information such as water quality and quantity. In addition to these, system alerts, modification settings, consumable replacement information and other service activities are also recorded. This information is compatible with any LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). You can store this information on a memory card in digital format and keep your information in digital form without the need for paper. With the mixed resin technology used in the new-generation IPAK Quanta and IPAK Meta cartridges, we have cartridges that are much smaller in size compared to previous cartridges. With the new easy-lock mechanism cartridge slots that come with these small cartridges, consumable replacements can be easily performed by anyone working in the laboratory. With the mercury-free UV lamp used here, the waste disposal procedure of the old lamp after UV lamp replacement will not pose a problem for users. Bringing all of this together, the Milli-Q® IQ 7000 has been designed and made available to you to provide your laboratory's ultrapure water needs in a way that is more effective, technological and easier than ever before.
