Bostik Smart Primer Eponal 336 is a solvent-free, 2-component epoxy-based primer with excellent chemical and mechanical resistance. The main distinguishing feature from other products on the market is that it allows application even on wet substrates (except standing water). A solvent-free, 2-component epoxy primer with excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, used prior to epoxy applications on damp concrete subfloors or those likely to be affected by rising moisture. It creates a waterproof protective barrier on the applied surface while increasing adhesion and reducing consumption. It functions both as a moisture barrier and as a substrate strengthener. Applications

Indoor and outdoor spaces, normal and highly absorbent surfaces, all new and old cement-based subfloors, concrete, tiles, ceramic, stone, and all mineral-based substrates.

Properties

Unaffected by water and moisture. Resistant to hydrostatic pressure (up to 100%). Does not shrink. Used to level surfaces prior to industrial coatings and floor paints. High strength. Low VOC. Creates a waterproof and moisture-proof protective barrier.

Substrate Preparation

The application surface must be free of dust, dirt, mold release agent, slag, paint and similar foreign materials that prevent adhesion, as well as residues and waste such as cement, plaster and concrete. Weak substrates that cannot support themselves, such as cracks and weak surfaces, or algae residues must be cleaned from the surface. Must have adequate compressive and tensile strength (for new concrete, at least 25 MPa and 1.5 MPa respectively after 28 days) and must not be exposed to hydrostatic pressure. Depending on conditions and type, subfloors must be treated by shotblasting, mechanical planing, coarse grinding, sandblasting, high-pressure water washing, or chemical stripping. All dust must be completely removed after mechanical treatment of a subfloor. Substrates requiring repair must be filled and leveled with special repair and leveling mortars at least 7 days before adhesive application. Surface moisture conditions must be checked before application.

Application - Roller Application as Primer

Eponal 336 epoxy primer resin is slowly poured onto the hardener and mixed with a low-speed mixer until a homogeneous color and mixture is obtained. The fresh mixture must be used within approximately 30 minutes. Spiked shoes must be worn to walk on the fresh mixture. A spiked roller must be used to ensure ventilation and prevent bubble formation.

Post-Application

Maintenance - Freshly applied surfaces must be protected during the first days from direct sunlight, strong air currents, high air temperature (above +35°C), rain and frost and other adverse weather effects. Clean hand tools immediately with water or MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) after application. To achieve the product's intended and desired long-term performance, after completion of all work, the applied surface must be protected or coated as quickly as possible with an appropriate coating (screed, ceramic, etc.) suited to the purpose and details of the work.
