Chemical corrosion presents a significant challenge in the chemical industry and has always caused damage to manufacturing. There are various methods to prevent corrosion.

Glass-Lined Steel Equipment

Glass coating is a unique equipment coating. It combines the best qualities of both materials by fusing them together. It merges the strength and flexibility of steel with the corrosion resistance of enamel. Through glass coating applied to the interior surface, long-term operation under difficult conditions without problems is made possible. Furthermore, the use of this material is also of considerable economic importance because this coating places plain carbon steel in the category of corrosion-resistant expensive alloys (titanium, hastelloy, tantalum). In the chemical industry, equipment with corrosion resistance required for many chemical reactions is needed. There is no economic justification, such as the use of expensive materials and alloys. For this reason, the use of glass-lined equipment is the only solution in production.

Glass-lined equipment is generally of the following types:

• Chemical reactor types, • Storage tanks, • Bolted steel tanks, • Chemical columns, • Heat exchangers, • Pipes, • Valves.

Features:

• High corrosion resistance in many acidic environments, • Very high chemical resistance and very wide range of application, • Good temperature resistance (-25°C to 220°C), • Lower permeability coefficient compared to other coatings, • Hygienic and easily cleanable (CIP), • Ability to withstand high pressure, • Resistance to scratching and wear, • Better heat transfer compared to other coatings There are rare substances that have a damaging effect on glass. Some of these are hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid. Glass-lined equipment has poor resistance in high-temperature alkaline environments, but can perform well at low temperatures. In these cases, fluoropolymer coatings are recommended. The graph on the adjacent page shows glass resistance (pH between zero and 14). The design, manufacture, coating and quality control of all glass-lined equipment produced by our company are carried out in accordance with ISO, DIN, ASME and IPS standards as per relevant codes.

Fluoropolymer-Coated Equipment

Fluoropolymers, belonging to the polymer group, are preferred in industry due to their high temperature resistance, low coefficient of friction and high corrosion resistance. These coatings are applied to the interior surfaces of all types of equipment (chemical reactor types, storage tanks, chemical columns, heat exchangers, pipes and valves). The coating method should be determined by the company's experts based on the structure and condition of the fluoropolymers and according to the corrosive environment and the design of the equipment. The types of fluoropolymers applied for coating at Shimi Azar Jaam are listed below.

• Excellent resistance to acidic and alkaline environments, • High temperature resistance compared to other organic coatings, • Ability to coat complex-shaped parts, • Various coating methods, • Coating capability on various surfaces (metal, concrete, FRP), • Low coefficient of friction, • Good wear resistance, tensile strength and impact resistance. In general, fluoropolymers demonstrate exceptional resistance in all acidic and alkaline environments and have a maximum temperature resistance of 270°C (depending on the fluoropolymer type).
