Nazha's Fantastic Adventure

Taiwanese Shadow Theatre is an extension of Chinese Shadow Theatre that emerged in South China. The play, operated especially with rods attached at right angles to the shadow puppet, creates a distinction from the traditional form of Chinese Shadow Play. However, this technique interestingly bears a similarity to the Karagöz puppet technique. Although the technical difference exists at the moments when the rods meet the puppet, their operation at right angles creates a similarity.   Founded in 2002, the award-winning Kaohsiung Shadow Theatre has mastered the combination of creative elements with traditional stories. The main character of this play is Nazha, a character from ancient Chinese mythology. This powerful and young deity is very mischievous and constantly causes trouble. Audiences can participate in Nazha's adventures and discover the incredible movement capability and technical features of Taiwanese shadow theatre. The event takes place as part of the 20th International Istanbul Puppet Festival. Before the play, the story will be narrated in Turkish by a narrator.
