Architect Craig Dykers to Visit Istanbul

Craig Dykers, Founding Partner of Snøhetta, an Aga Khan Award-winning architecture firm, will be the guest speaker at the Istanbul event in VitrA's lecture series organised in collaboration with RIBA, the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Since 2018, VitrA has been organising architect conversations in collaboration with RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) with the aim of contributing to the development of architectural culture. The series marks its 7th year with events in London and Istanbul in November. The 5th Istanbul meeting of RIBA+VitrA Architect Conversations, which hosts leading designers and architects to explore architecture as a catalyst for positive urban and social change, will take place on Wednesday, 27 November at 19:00.

At the event at Istanbul Lütfi Kırdar Congress and Exhibition Palace, Craig Dykers, Founding Partner of Snøhetta, will deliver a lecture titled "Living Buildings, Thoughtful Landscapes". Craig Dykers, a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Royal Society of Arts (RSA), will share an inspiring conversation covering projects such as the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. Through his talk, participants will discover how architecture and landscape design can harmonise humans, plants and animals with nature, and how design can reshape our relationship with the world around us.

In previous RIBA + VitrA Architect Conversations events in Istanbul, Daniel Libeskind from Studio Libeskind visited on 18 April 2019, Ben van Berkel from UN Studio on 3 March 2020, Róisín Heneghan and Shih-Fu Peng from Heneghan Peng Architects on 26 February 2021, and Kent Jackson from SOM on 1 July 2021. Two of the RIBA + VitrA Architect Conversations were held online during the pandemic period. Craig Dykers, Founding Partner of Snøhetta, will be the 5th guest in Istanbul.

About Craig Edward Dykers 

Architect, AIA member, RIBA International member, and RSA member Craig Dykers was among the founding partners of Snøhetta in 1989, an integrated architecture, landscape architecture and design firm focused on health, biodiversity and sustainability, as well as empowering communities. The firm is headquartered in New York, USA and Oslo, Norway, with five additional offices worldwide.

Craig Dykers has directed many significant projects including the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt, the Oslo Opera in Norway, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the new Joslyn Art Museum and the Calgary Central Library. Among his ongoing projects are the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, the Ford Motor Company Design Campus, and the Museum of Natural Sciences in Mexico, along with numerous national and international projects.
