Delidolu's Award-Winning Author Dimitris Sotakis in Istanbul

A powerful voice of contemporary Greek literature, Dimitris Sotakis, is coming to İstanbul as part of Tudem Yayın Grubu’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Sotakis, who is among the foreign author guests of the 41st International İstanbul Book Fair, will meet with his İstanbul readers on November 9 and 10.

Having reached a considerable readership in our country with his novels Soluğun Mucizesi, Bir Süpermarketin Hikâyesi, Romanyalıyı Yiyen Yamyam, Büyük Hizmetkâr and Yarım Kalp, published under the Delidolu imprint, the author is cementing his reputation with works that nod to the “Greek Weird Wave,” which can be defined as a rebellion against the existing system.

Regarded by European literary critics as one of the pioneering authors leaving a mark on the first quarter of the 21st century, Dimitris Sotakis addresses the arrogance, desires and deep loneliness of contemporary people with a distinctive dark humor, allowing us to look through a surreal mirror at the socio-cultural change and transformation of Greece, which is rising from the ashes after the economic crisis.

One of the not-to-be-missed meetings of the İstanbul Book Fair

Dimitris Sotakis, who will meet his İstanbul readers and sign his books at Delidolu’s Hall 7/stand 729 on November 9 and 10, will also take part in a conversation titled “Literature on Two Sides of the Water” together with translator Fulya Aktüre at 14:00 on Saturday, November 9. Moderated by Delidolu Publishing Director Ayşegül Utku Günaydın and held with consecutive interpretation into Turkish, the event will take place at the Büyükada Hall at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center.

An author who breaks the mold with his mind, his heart and his very being

Dimitris Sotakis was born in Athens in 1973. He studied music in London. His first novel, Ev (The House), was published in 1997. His works titled Yeşil Kapı (2002), On Bir Erotik Ölüm (2004), Gürültü (2005) and Mısır Adam (2007) received positive reviews, were translated into other languages and won awards. The author received the Vincitore dell’ Athens Literature Prize in 2010 and the European Union Prize for Literature in 2011. Soluğun Mucizesi, which met with readers in 2009, enabled Sotakis to gain worldwide recognition and become one of the important authors of his generation.
