Borusan Sanat's April Events Borusan Sanat is set for a packed April, beginning this week with an engaging concert from BİFO. Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra will accompany the comedic duo Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo, along with percussionist Lucy Landymore, in a concert conducted by Sascha Goetzel on Thursday, 6 April. Concert recordings presented via the online video platform borusansanat.tv continue to bring audiences together through music.

Igudesman & Joo meet BİFO

Aleksey Igudesman and Hyung-ki Joo combine humour, classical music and references to popular culture in their spirited, distinctive and theatrical performances. The duo, who have previously shared the stage with numerous ensembles including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra and the National Academy of Santa Cecilia Orchestra, count Hans Zimmer and Billy Joel among their admirers. Borusan Sanat continues to reach audiences with concerts featuring distinguished artists through its platform borusansanat.tv, which brings the concert experience to the digital realm. The platform, offering an enjoyable programme to music lovers each week, will this week present the recording of a concert titled "Gürer Aykal: 80th Birthday" in which Finnish pianist Joonas Ahonen accompanies BİFO under the direction of Gürer Aykal. The concert, to be broadcast on Sunday, 9 April at 11:30, will be available for one week, while a concert featuring the kanun and piano duo Esra Berkman & Lilian Tonella Tüzün as guests at Borusan Music House will remain on air for one additional week. The recording of the concert in which Borusan Quartet hosted Camille Thomas will be available for viewing for one more week. This concert, the first of the eagerly and greatly anticipated concerts each season under the direction of BİFO's Honorary Conductor Gürer Aykal, celebrates our state artist orchestra conductor's 80th birthday. The concert features pianist Joonas Ahonen, who has recorded acclaimed albums with works by 20th-century composers who left their mark on the era, such as Charles Ives, George Antheil and Arnold Schoenberg, performing as soloist.
