Painter Ayşe Betil Honored

Painter Ayşe Betil, known for her figurative works, has been invited as a guest artist to the "Supernatural" exhibition to be held in England next month within the framework of the "ITSLIQUID International Art Fair" with her painting "Woman from Urfa", following her participation in the "Mixing Identities" exhibition in Venice on 3-21 March with the same work. In the second edition to be held on 7-21 April at THE LINE art gallery in collaboration with ITSLIQUID Group and YMX Arts, artists will present works from various disciplines of art including photography, painting, video, installation, sculpture and performance. Turkish painter Ayşe Betil, invited to the exhibition which will be visited by many curators, collectors, writers and publishers globally, will display her painting "Woman from Urfa", which she created using the oil on canvas technique, following the requests received. The work, depicting a woman living in Urfa as the main figure, reflects the regional identity of Anatolian lands from clothing to accessories, from the background to the colours used. Bringing Anatolian women to Europe

Painter Ayşe Betil's thoughts on the exhibition are as follows: "Turkish figurative painting art, whose roots extend back centuries, is a reflection of the experiences in Anatolian lands that have been home to many civilizations. As I have always emphasized, I have never painted a model that has not influenced me, solely out of concern to prove my talent. In my works, drawing from different geographies, times and emotions, I have presented my own perspective and style. I draw inspiration from the realism of traditional figurative art and I bring yesterday's brushes to today's framework. In my "Woman from Urfa" work, I have transferred to the canvas the details related to the lands where my figure exists in all its particulars, the state of mind I believe she has experienced, and the imagery of her virtues and vices. Following Mixing Identities, I am proud to be invited to the Supernatural exhibition to display my painting."

Creating architectural landscapes alongside figurative works

In addition to her participation in domestic exhibitions, Painter Ayşe Betil has also presented various works in exhibitions in cities such as New York and Paris, and creates architectural landscapes alongside her figurative works. In her paintings, she uses many techniques together including oil, watercolour and pastel, charcoal or mixed media. By doing so, the painter has given an identity to her art, and opened her first solo exhibition titled "Human Stains in My Hands" at the Historic Hüsrev Kethüda Bathhouse in Ortaköy on 11-17 November 2022, achieving success. Defining art as the space where she has gained her freedom, her own playground, the artist connected art viewers with her inner world through her first solo exhibition, and opened doors for them to create different perspectives by going beyond meaning with colours.
