"Blue Future Project" for Healthy Seas and Healthy Generations

Orzaks İlaç continues to protect marine ecosystems and Omega-3 sources through its Blue Future Project. In collaboration with the Marine Life Protection Association (DYKD), Turkey Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV) and Arnavutköy Municipality, Orzaks İlaç organized a coastal cleanup event at Karaburun Beach to draw attention to marine pollution and create a sustainable marine ecosystem. A total of 107 kilograms of waste was collected during the event.

Orzaks İlaç, in cooperation with the Marine Life Protection Association (DYKD), Turkey Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV) and Arnavutköy Municipality, organized a large-scale coastal cleanup event at Karaburun Beach. The event was attended by Orzaks İlaç General Manager Yunus Emre Alimoğlu, Orzaks İlaç Marketing and Corporate Communications Director Müge Turan and Arnavutköy Municipality Deputy Mayor. The Blue Future Project, implemented to ensure the sustainability of marine ecosystems and increase environmental awareness, took an important step this year towards protecting marine ecosystems. The project aims to raise awareness about marine cleaning and the protection of sustainable Omega-3 sources.

On the occasion of 3 March World Omega-3 Day, Orzaks İlaç, which last year achieved significant impact with an awareness project called "Blue Flag, Blue Heart," is expanding the project's scope this year under the name "Blue Future," aiming to further increase awareness about coastal cleanup and the reduction of plastic waste. During the event held on 3 March World Omega-3 Day this year, attention was drawn to the fact that seas provide nutrient sources rich in Omega-3 and to the negative effects of marine pollution on human health. Orzaks İlaç combines its pioneering role in the health sector with its vision of environmental sustainability, continuing to explain to society not only the importance of human health but also the importance of a healthy environment.

Omega-3 has critical importance for many vital functions
Orzaks İlaç General Manager Yunus Emre Alimoğlu emphasized that the cleanliness of seas is of vital importance for the sustainability and quality of Omega-3 sources, drawing attention to the connection between environmental sustainability and human health: "Our seas are the habitat of fish and other marine life that are rich sources of Omega-3. If we cannot protect our seas, we will not only endanger the marine ecosystem, but also human health and our future.

Omega-3 has critical importance for many vital functions, from heart health to the immune system. However, as seas struggle with plastic pollution, the sustainability of this nutrient source is at risk. As Orzaks İlaç, we not only produce products that benefit human health, but also prioritize the protection of the natural sources of these products. For this reason, implementing such environmental awareness projects is a responsibility for us."

He further added: "Today, in line with our mission to contribute to society, I would like to thank the Marine Life Protection Association (DYKD) and Turkey Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV), which we came together with, as well as all stakeholders who contributed to the project. As Orzaks İlaç, we will continue to act with environmental responsibility awareness and support the protection of marine ecosystems." He concluded his remarks.

"Our goal is to leave clean seas for future generations"
Marine Life Protection Association Board Chairman Volkan Narcı, emphasizing that 80 percent of marine pollution comes from land-based sources, said: "It is everyone's responsibility to protect our marine ecosystems and leave a clean environment for future generations. Plastics reaching the seas gradually break down into micro and nano sizes, entering the food chain and directly affecting human health. The consumption of plastic waste by marine life threatens not only marine ecosystems but also human health. For this reason, we took our place at this coastal cleanup event at Karaburun Beach with the aim of preventing waste from beaches from entering the sea and raising awareness about pollution. Our goal is not only to clean one beach, but also to create awareness in individuals, foster a more sustainable environmental consciousness and leave clean seas for future generations."

Turkey Environmental Education Foundation (TÜRÇEV) General Manager Almıla Kından Cebbari, noting that the protection of seas is of critical importance not only for ecological balance but also for the protection of human health, used the following statements: "It is impossible to protect human health without environmental health. The cleanliness of seas is essential not only for the ecosystem but also for us to maintain a healthy life. The continuity of vital nutrient sources like Omega-3 is directly related to our seas.

As Turkey Environmental Education Foundation, through this project we are carrying out with Orzaks İlaç, we aim to increase awareness about marine cleanliness and sustainability. However, protecting the seas is not only the responsibility of institutions but also a shared responsibility of all individuals. We should act together and demonstrate a more sensitive approach to our environment and health. We thank all our stakeholders who supported this meaningful cooperation."

Collected waste was sorted and weighed
Following the speeches, the coastal cleanup event was launched and waste harmful to the marine ecosystem was collected by volunteers. During the event, participants were informed about the effects of marine pollution and sustainability. During the Karaburun Beach cleanup event, a total of 107 kg of waste was collected, comprising 43 kg of plastic, 27 kg of paper, 22 kg of glass and 15 kg of household waste. The collected waste was sorted and disposed of in accordance with recycling procedures. Orzaks İlaç will continue to raise awareness through projects that add value to environmental sustainability and human health.
