Zero Waste Message from Galata Tower

A captivating mapping show titled "Zero Waste: Traces in Water's Memory" at Galata Tower drew significant attention. Galata Tower, a meeting point of history and art, hosted a striking display during the Zero Waste Forum organized under the Zero Waste Movement, which is conducted under the patronage of Emine Erdoğan, wife of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and in cooperation with the UN.

The mapping show "Zero Waste: Traces in Water's Memory," realized at Galata Tower with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under the forum facilitated by the Zero Waste Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, presented an impactful artistic experience centered on sustainability, circular life and environmental awareness.

This visual narrative, curated by İsmail Erdoğan and shaped through a water metaphor, conveyed to viewers the cycle of nature, human impact and zero waste consciousness through layered storytelling. While reflections in aquarium form represented the world, clear water and hand figures symbolized nature's self-regulating balance.

One of the most striking moments of the display was the scene of plastic waste being dumped into the sea. As the water's color changed at this moment, the cumulative impact of consumption habits on nature was emphasized. The hands then transformed into a call for help and a living system struggling to restore balance.

The final scene presented a hopeful picture of how the ecosystem would revive if zero waste policies were successfully implemented. The display reminded viewers that waste is not an end result, but a reflection of our individual and collective choices.
