Effective heat insulation in homes needed to lower energy costs

Income and Living Conditions Survey results for 2023, released by TÜİK, revealed that inadequate insulation and heating problems are among the most significant issues affecting housing in Turkey. Approximately 26 million people experience heating problems due to inadequate insulation

As Turkey's energy imports continue to rise each year, 40 per cent of purchased energy is used for heating residential buildings. Turkey paid 50 billion dollars for energy in 2022 and 69 billion dollars in 2023. For Turkey to lower its energy costs, effective thermal insulation must be implemented in residential buildings. According to TÜİK data, approximately 26 million people experience heating problems due to inadequate insulation in their homes. Tolga Öztoprak, General Manager of Türk Ytong, stated: "Despite the pace of urban transformation in our country, we see that the situation reflected in TÜİK reports has not changed. Thermal insulation and inability to heat our homes are among the biggest problems we face." 40 per cent of energy is spent on heating homes
