Could you briefly tell us about yourself, your education and your professional background in the sector?
I was born in Istanbul in 1978. After studying in the Electrical Department at Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Anatolia Technical High School in 1997, I graduated from the Electrical Engineering Department at Kocaeli University in 2001. Until 2007, I worked as a project engineer at an industrial automation firm serving heavy industry. Since 2007, I have continued my professional career at Çukurova Mühendislik, our family company, as a second-generation manager.
Could you share the founding story of Çukurova Mühendislik with us? What kind of organizational structure do you have today?
Our founder Ali Can Çoğal graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department at Istanbul State Architecture Academy Galatasaray Engineering High School in 1978 and subsequently worked in various manufacturing engineering and production management positions at different factories for six years. By 1984, he established his own company and laid the foundations for Çukurova Mühendislik. Until 1999, our company operated as a sole proprietorship, and from that date onward it has continued as a limited company.
Until 2007, Ali Can Çoğal managed our company alone, at which point he brought myself and my sister Burcu Aybi into the company. We held various positions until our founder Ali Can Çoğal decided to hand over company management to us, second-generation managers, in 2015.
From 2007 onwards, our company was structured like two firms within one, and alongside the existing mechanical department, a strong automation department was established. With this new department, we provided our customers with a comfort zone where they could monitor their investments in both mechanical and automation aspects from a single source.
Our company currently has a core team of approximately 50 people, including 12 engineers and around 30 blue-collar workers. With this staff, our company primarily serves the chemicals, iron and steel, and energy sectors, providing services to many industrial establishments domestically and internationally in the fields of industrial-type furnaces, mechanical contracting and industrial automation. Our activities span a wide range from equipment procurement to factory installation. Since 2015, our company has undertaken numerous projects in the chemicals sector, from facility modernization to turnkey (EPC) chemicals plant establishment.
Which sectors do you specialize in serving? Could you tell us about the services you provide to the polyurethane sector?
To put it briefly, we provide solutions to our customers. Among our main solutions are: in the field of process equipment, P&ID design, reactor system design and manufacturing, blender system design and manufacturing, premix tank design and manufacturing, masterbatch system design and manufacturing, pilot reactor system design and manufacturing, storage tank design and manufacturing, wall mixer design and manufacturing, IBC and drum filling and emptying systems manufacturing, industrial piping (process fluids, steam, hot oil, cold and hot water, nitrogen, etc.) and in the field of industrial automation, reactor and blender system automation, PLC, HMI and SCADA system installation, factory automation, weighing and filling automation, and reporting software.
Could you tell us about your industrial facility installation and assembly services? What kind of work are you doing in this area and how are you benefiting from new technologies in this service?
Among our company's capabilities are the installation of new facilities, relocation of facilities and modernization of operating facilities. Our mechanical, electrical and automation teams are capable of undertaking assembly, testing and commissioning projects for a wide range of iron and steel and chemicals sectors.
Çukurova Mühendislik provides basic and detailed engineering services in the fields of chemical process equipment, piping, energy distribution and industrial automation, and has the capacity to complete the projects it undertakes on a turnkey basis.
Could you tell us about a polyurethane production facility project you previously implemented? What kind of work did you carry out in this area?
Our company has undertaken the renovation project of the Polyurethane System House Facility located in Tuzla Leather Organized Industrial Zone. By combining mechanical and automation areas, it undertook the installation of the entire facility on a turnkey basis, excluding construction.
In this scope, it successfully completed reactor design and manufacturing, blender design and manufacturing, stock tank design and manufacturing, IBC filling station design and manufacturing, tanker filling station design and manufacturing, steel construction platform design and manufacturing for the units, design and manufacturing of all piping lines of the facility, DCS automation system design and installation.
Çukurova Mühendislik continues to be an important player in the sector in industrial engineering and automation solutions through these projects.
