Vestel Wins Double Award from Europe and Turkey
Vestel represented Turkey for the second time at the European Business Awards for the Environment, winning an award in the 'Process' category with its self-designed 'Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse System' aligned with its Smart Life 2030 sustainability vision. The company also received a technology award in the 'Large-Scale Enterprise Process' category within the scope of the 13th Technology Awards with the same project.
The European Business Awards for the Environment recognize companies that have developed projects to improve environmental performance and contribute to sustainable economic development, regardless of their size or sector of operation, and have achieved the most success in reaching their targets.
Vestel became the first company from Turkey to win an award in the 'Process' category with its 'Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse System' in the history of this organization. At the European Business Awards for the Environment ceremony held in Vienna, Ömer Gökçe Kuyucu, Vestel Electronics Production Manager, received the award on behalf of Vestel.
Vestel's second award, the Technology Awards, is given to creative, innovative solutions with technical excellence and competitive characteristics, a product of synergy created by TÜBİTAK, Turkey Technology Development Foundation (TTGV), and TÜSİAD. Vestel was deemed worthy of the award in this organization as well with its 'Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse System'. At the awards ceremony held in Istanbul, Emre Zorlu, Member of the Board of Directors of Zorlu Holding, received the award on behalf of Vestel from Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank. Speaking about the awards, Emre Zorlu, Member of the Board of Directors of Zorlu Holding, said: "As a group aware of our responsibility to future generations, we are working with the dream of a more livable world and better tomorrows. In all our business processes, we focus on increasing the value we add to society and the economy by using technology with an innovative perspective, and on minimizing our environmental impacts. We position this understanding, which we define as Smart Life 2030, as our company's future vision. Our Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse project, which was deemed worthy of the award, is a project that brings together technology, efficiency and sustainability under one roof in this sense. I believe that the awards this project has received both in Europe and Turkey are proof of how accurately we can reflect our sustainability vision in our production processes, and I congratulate all my colleagues who contributed to the project," he said. What is the Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse System?
In industrial wet paint application systems where average paint utilization efficiency is around 50 percent, the remaining 50 percent is filtered and collected as waste. Thanks to the 'Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse System' developed by Vestel, waste paint particles used in the facility are recovered and made ready for reuse. Vestel designed all chemical formulations and machinery in this system. The 'Waste Paint Recovery and Reuse System' was used by Vestel Electronics for the first time across all industries and was registered with 3 patents. Technology Award received by Emre Zorlu, Member of the Board of Directors of Zorlu Holding, from Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank.
