Turkeybuild Builds Inspiration for the Construction Sector

The 46th Building Fair – Turkeybuild Istanbul, taking place at TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center between 17-20 April 2024, is the largest in its region covering the Balkans, Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, Middle East and North Africa, and ranks among the five largest building fairs in the world. An important international platform bringing together both local and foreign participants, the fair attracts visitors and plays a major role in establishing new business partnerships. Building Fair - Turkeybuild Istanbul strengthens its 46-year foundation with 50% state support. The fair, which will host hundreds of participants from Germany, Russia, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Italy, Russia, Austria and China, is being supported this year with 50% state incentive. Besides being the most influential business platform in the region, Turkeybuild Istanbul, Turkey's longest-running building fair, will also host over 400 VIP buyers from more than 60 countries. Turkeybuild Istanbul 2024: An Event Programme Full of Innovation and Collaboration Building Fair – Turkeybuild Istanbul 2024 will host an exciting event programme bringing together leading figures from the architecture world this year. Designed in collaboration with renowned architects and those with successful projects to their credit, this programme will shed light on the future of the construction sector. Each day of the fair will address a different theme, and on the opening day, "Outside the Box" meetings aim to put forward unconventional ideas and innovative materials in the construction sector, fostering collaborations and creating strong connections in the industry. Thursday, 18 April – Design and Develop, Produce with Artificial Intelligence! This theme will focus on important topics shaping the future of the construction sector. The evolution of design, innovations in technology and artificial intelligence will be discussed, offering visitors an opportunity to discover the transformative impact of innovation and technology in the construction sector. Friday, 19 April – Beyond Green session will emphasise the importance of sustainability in the sector. While evaluating environmental impact-focused design and sustainable development goals, topics beyond the green agenda will include environment-friendly practices, socially responsible projects, net-zero targeted applications, materials reducing carbon footprint and sustainable architectural solutions. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover how to create positive impact in the sector beyond green approaches. Saturday, 20 April – The DNA of Architectural Communication discussions will examine the world of communication and marketing in the building sector, covering prominent topics such as codes for reaching architects on social media, tips for contacting employers in the new world order, and strategies for surviving in the competitive market environment. Additionally, within the scope of the fair, the Golden Magnet "Stand Design Awards" will recognise participants who present their brands and products in a sustainable and innovative manner. Through Building Master Class, an interactive fair experience will be offered alongside architects, and Building Tech Garage will provide new entrepreneurs with an opportunity to showcase their innovative products. Special Formwork-Scaffolding Hall at Building Fair-Turkeybuild Istanbul 2024 with İKSD Partnership! In collaboration with İKSD and ICA Build Fuarcılık A.Ş., a dedicated hall is being created for formwork and scaffolding companies at this year's Building Fair-Turkeybuild Istanbul 2024. With this cooperation agreement between ICA Build Fuarcılık A.Ş. and İKSD, the aim is to generate greater interaction among participating companies. In this special hall, which will also feature member companies of the Formwork and Scaffolding Manufacturers Association, participants will have the opportunity to showcase their products and establish new business connections. The construction sector has shown growth above the general economy over the last four quarters. We observe that this growth is supported by base effects following a prolonged contraction. While a 4.0% growth target has been set for the general economy in 2024, growth in the construction sector is likely to be in the 4.5-5.0% range with its own dynamics. However, there are certain factors that will limit this growth. First, tight monetary policy and high interest rates are expected to continue until the last quarter of 2024. Second, the public budget targets limited growth in investments outside the earthquake zone. Of course, there are factors stemming from the construction sector's own dynamics that will support growth. In particular, the increase in building permits issued in 2023 led to accelerated permitting and demolition-reconstruction work in individual buildings ahead of local elections. Furthermore, activities in the earthquake zone are expected to continue generating demand, and urban renewal activities are expected to increase. In particular, significant steps have been taken on urban renewal and targets have been set in this area. The 12th Five-Year Development Plan envisages the completion and implementation of urban renewal plans for all 81 provinces by 2028. Additionally, the plan period aims to produce 500,000 new social housing units. Within this scope, efforts continue to increase earthquake-focused urban renewal activities and secure financing sources. The importance of overseas contracting services should also not be overlooked. In this field, a high project volume was reached in 2023, with a total of 389 projects secured. Among these projects, road, tunnel and bridge projects accounted for the largest share. As all these factors demonstrate, the construction sector continues to grow with its internal dynamics and opportunities in international markets. In this process, I wish all stakeholders in the sector to work together to achieve greater success. It is highly important for the sector's entrepreneurs to come together with innovative, solution-focused and efficient results, further strengthening Turkey's strong muscles in the building field.
