Şişecam’s Consolidated Net Sales Reach USD 4.3 Billion

Şişecam's consolidated net sales reached TRY 95 billion (USD 4.3 billion) in the first nine months of 2023. International sales accounted for 64% of Şişecam's total sales during this period, while total investments reached TRY 11.9 billion (USD 534 million) and exports totalled USD 814 million. Şişecam announced its financial results for the first nine months of 2023. The company's consolidated net sales for this period reached TRY 95 billion (USD 4.3 billion), while international sales—comprising exports from Turkey and sales from production outside Turkey—accounted for 64% of consolidated sales. In the first nine months, Şişecam's total investments reached TRY 11.9 billion (USD 534 million) and exports totalled USD 814 million. During this period, the company produced 3.9 million tonnes of glass, 3.4 million tonnes of soda ash and 2.8 million tonnes of industrial raw materials.

Automotive glass line investment in Lüleburgaz

Continuing investments to support its uninterrupted growth in the third quarter of the year, Şişecam commissioned its flat glass furnace in India with new technologies following a cold repair investment of approximately USD 56 million, providing employment for 264 people. Şişecam also completed the cold repair of its glass tableware furnace in Egypt. With this investment, the company increased glass tableware production capacity in Egypt to 35,000 tonnes per year. In September, Şişecam commissioned its first dedicated automotive glass float line in Lüleburgaz with an investment of approximately USD 190 million. The new line, designed specifically to achieve high efficiency and capacity utilization rates and capable of producing thin glass, will operate with an annual capacity of 200,000 tonnes while providing additional employment for 114 people. Meanwhile, Şişecam's ongoing investments continue uninterrupted. Continuing work on the TR9 float line in Tarsus, one of five flat glass investments with the highest capacity on a global scale, and on the cold repair and capacity increase work on the TR1 float line in Lüleburgaz, Şişecam is continuing investments in glass packaging facilities in Eskişehir and Hungary to meet rising demand in the glass packaging market in Turkey and worldwide. Soda ash investments in the United States are proceeding as planned. As an outcome of its growth journey focused on data, innovation and digitalization, Şişecam signed a letter of intent in the first half of the year to invest in ICRON, a Turkish technology company providing operational and strategic decision optimization services. In October, Şişecam reached an agreement with ICRON on partnership. As a result of this first investment in software technologies, Şişecam aims to grow together with ICRON and take its operational excellence and optimization approach in current operations to the next level.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman receives award in Como

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman, Chairman of the Board and Managing Member of Şişecam, received the Glass Person of The Year 2023 award—known as the Oscar of the glass sector—at a special ceremony held in Como, Italy, in recognition of his contributions to the development of the global glass sector. The award was deemed appropriate by the Phoenix Award Committee. Phoenix Award Committee Chairman Lincoln Brown presented the award to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman at the special evening attended by leading representatives of global business and the glass sector. This prestigious award, among the most prestigious in the glass sector, has been presented since 1971 to scientists, designers, engineers and business leaders who support and lead development in glass research and development, product design and engineering, manufacturing, marketing and sales.
