Şişecam Shares Advanced Glass Fiber Technologies at São Carlos Glass and Glass-Ceramic School 2026

The 4th São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026, held in Brazil with Şişecam among its sponsors, brought together international participants to discuss current academic and technological developments in glass science. The event addressed research shaping the future of the sector, particularly advanced glass fiber technologies and high-performance glass systems.
Şişecam, among the sponsors of the 4th São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026 held in Brazil, brought together current academic and technological developments in glass science with international participants. At the event, studies shaping the sector's future, particularly advanced glass fiber technologies and high-performance glass systems, were discussed.
Şişecam, a global player in the glass and chemicals sectors, supported the São Carlos School on Glasses and Glass-Ceramics 2026 as a sponsor, recognized as one of the most prestigious international academic events in glass science. Held for the fourth time this year, the organization brought together postgraduate students, academics, researchers and sector professionals, creating an important knowledge-sharing platform in glass science.
Within the program scope, the structure of glasses and glass-ceramics as well as fundamental processes such as diffusion, viscous flow, relaxation, liquid-liquid phase separation and crystallization were comprehensively addressed. While theoretical and applied content related to optical, electrical, mechanical and biochemical properties offered participants an interdisciplinary perspective, current scientific developments in advanced glass fiber technologies and high-performance glass systems were also shared.
Şişecam's Contribution to Advanced Material Technologies
Şişecam played an active role at the event not only as a sponsor but also through its technical expertise and R&D experience. In a presentation by Dr. Gülin Demirok, Glass Fiber Product Development Specialist and Productivity Management Programme Project Manager at Şişecam, the company's innovation journey extending from experience in standard E-glass fiber production to high-modulus (HM), ultra-high-modulus (UHM) and S-glass fiber technologies was shared.
The presentation also shared with participants work on experimental glass fiber compositions developed for high mechanical performance, improved specific strength and advanced engineering applications, as well as production processes.
Strong R&D Vision for High-Value-Added Materials
Şişecam is conducting significant projects in the glass fiber field within the scope of R&D work it pursues with the vision of "meeting today the advanced material needs of the future." High-value-added materials developed for strategic sectors such as defence, energy, aviation and advanced composite applications demonstrate the company's competence in this field.
Research conducted particularly on high-modulus (HM) and S-glass fiber technologies is among the work that strengthens Şişecam's global competitive strength in advanced glass and fiber technologies.
