Akcoat Achieves Tangible Gains in Resource Efficiency
Akcoat, an Akkök Holding affiliate, shared the results of its practices in resource efficiency and renewable energy as part of World Environment Day. The company continues its efforts to reduce its environmental impact through performance achieved in water conservation, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
Akkok Holding subsidiary Akcoat shared the outcomes of its resource efficiency and renewable energy initiatives implemented in connection with World Environment Day. The company continues its efforts to reduce environmental impact through its performance in water conservation, energy efficiency and renewable energy use.
Akcoat develops projects focused on operational excellence in line with its vision for a sustainable future, placing environment-friendly practices at the center of its production processes. As part of work conducted to combat global climate change and protect natural resources, the company demonstrated its commitment to green transformation through its 2025 sustainability performance.
Water Conservation in Production Processes
With approximately 50 years of experience, Akcoat operates in five main product groups: enamels, ceramics, non-stick decorative coatings, glass and pigments. Through optimization work carried out in its production processes, the company achieved significant results in protecting water resources.
Thanks to innovative applications implemented, water consumption in the relevant production process was completely eliminated, while annual water savings of 64,800 liters were achieved.
29 Percent Reduction in Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency projects formed one of the important areas of Akcoat's resource efficiency work. Through modernization investments and advanced technology applications carried out within research and development efforts, the company reduced electricity consumption by 29 percent.
As a result of these efforts, annual energy savings of 307,521 kWh were achieved, while significant contributions were made to reducing carbon footprint.
Renewable Energy Use Supported by International Certificate
Continuing its efforts to increase renewable energy use, Akcoat obtained 13,682 MWh of I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate). Thanks to this certificate, all electricity consumed was documented to international standards as being produced from renewable energy sources.
With this application, the company contributed to the transition to a low-carbon economy while strengthening its commitment to sustainable energy use.
