Prof. Dr. İsmail Çakmak Achieves Major Success

Major Achievement for Prof. Dr. İsmail Çakmak Prof. Dr. İsmail Çakmak, Faculty Member at Sabancı University, ranked first in Turkey and seventh globally in his field on the "World's Most Influential Scientists" list coordinated by Stanford University. Stanford University, using the Elsevier-Scopus database, examined more than 8 million scientists and researchers across 22 principal disciplines and 176 sub-disciplines based on their career work to create the 2022 list of the world's most influential scientists. The top 195,605 individuals on the list were published in PLOS Biology journal, and 879 scientists from Turkey made the list. Sabancı University Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences Faculty Member Prof. Dr. İsmail Çakmak ranked first in Turkey and 7th globally in the Agriculture-Agronomy sub-discipline in the 2022 most influential scientists ranking. In this study examining more than 8 million scientists and researchers, Prof. İsmail Çakmak ranked 2,538th in the overall general ranking across all scientific disciplines. In this study conducted since 2019, the most influential scientists are determined by considering scientific variables such as the number of scientific articles, number of citations received, self-citation ratio, author positions in articles, impact of the journal in which articles are published, h-index and hm-index values. Working on plant mineral nutrition and stress physiology, İsmail Çakmak has focused his research on the role of agricultural strategies in reducing the micronutrient deficiency problem (hidden hunger) affecting more than 2 billion people today.
