Chemical Sector Sets Export Record with $24 Billion in 9 Months

According to Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) data, Türkiye's exports rose 3% in September to reach $22.6 billion. The chemical sector recorded $2.5 billion in exports, growing 14.6% compared to the same period last year. In the first nine months of the year, total exports exceeded $24 billion, reinforcing the sector's strong position in foreign trade.
According to data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey's exports in September reached USD 22.6 billion, representing a 3% increase. The chemical sector achieved exports of USD 2.5 billion, showing 14.6% growth compared to the same period last year. In the first nine months of the year, total exports exceeded USD 24 billion, reinforcing the sector's strong position in foreign trade.
Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB), said: "In September, our country's total exports reached the highest September figure to date. Our chemical sector demonstrated strong performance with USD 2.5 billion in exports. We aim to sustain this growth trend in the remaining months of the year. As İKMİB, we will continue to support our exporters through trade delegations and trade fair participation, and will closely monitor developments regarding access to financing."
Plastics Lead, Major Growth in Fertilizer Exports
In September, plastics and plastic products ranked first in chemical exports at USD 798.8 million. Mineral fuels and products came second with USD 400.4 million, and inorganic chemicals third with USD 239.2 million in exports. Notable sub-sectors included fertilizers with 142% growth, pharmaceutical products with 27.8% growth, and rubber products with 15.8% growth.
Netherlands in First Place, 99% Growth to Ukraine
In September, the Netherlands became the largest market for the chemical sector with USD 183.7 million in exports. It was followed by Germany, Romania, Russia, and Italy. The most striking growth was recorded in exports to Ukraine at 99.39%.
The chemical sector aims to conclude 2025 strongly with a consistent upward export trend.
