Table Olive Exports Hit Historic High of $255 Million

Turkey exceeded its target for table olive exports in the 2024/25 season with revenue of USD 255.31 million. The sector, which ships black and green olives to 117 countries, is targeting USD 300 million in exports for the 2025/26 season.

Turkey achieved the highest foreign exchange earnings in its history for table olive exports during the 2024/25 season. Export revenue increased by 22% from USD 209 million to USD 255.31 million.

In terms of volume, table olive exports reached 100,884 tonnes, the second-highest level following the record of 109,000 tonnes in the 2021/22 season.

Anatolia's more than 200 million olive trees yielded 750,000 tonnes of table olives in the 2024/25 season. Turkey ranked first in the world in table olive production for the first time in its history. While Turkey allocated part of this abundance to the domestic market, it exported to 117 countries, bringing flavour and health benefits to millions of tables worldwide.

"We exceeded our USD 250 million target"
Emre Uygun, Chairman of the Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters Association, stated that they began the 2024/25 season with a target of USD 250 million and said: "Our black olive exports increased by 19%, rising from USD 162 million to USD 194 million. Our green olive exports increased by 29%, reaching USD 61.4 million from USD 47.5 million. We are proud to have exceeded our target."

New target: USD 300 million
Uygun, noting that the olive sector is in an intensive harvest period, stated: "For the 2025/26 season, we expect table olive production to be similar to the previous season. We believe recent rainfall will increase olive production and quality. Taking into account the recovery expected in world prices, we aim to reach USD 300 million in table olive exports in the 2025/26 season."
