Two New Patents from GÜBRETAŞ for Ammonia Storage and Discharge Systems

GÜBRETAŞ has received patent registration from the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT) for two original engineering solutions developed for the safe and effective discharge of the 25,000-ton capacity cryogenic liquid ammonia storage tank located at its Yarımca Facility.

Developed to address the technical requirements of field operations, the solutions were added to the company's intellectual property portfolio under the titles "Discharge System in Ammonia Tank" and "Discharge System with Cold Drilling in Double-Walled Ammonia Tanks." Both inventions were placed under protection for 20 years from their application dates.

Safe Operation, Effective Recovery and Resource Efficiency

Developed in line with process engineering and occupational safety standards, the systems focus on recovering ammonia, a critical raw material, without disposal or incineration:

Discharge System in Ammonia Tank: Enables the controlled, safe and economical discharge of liquid ammonia remaining below the pump suction level in large-capacity cryogenic storage tanks.

Discharge System with Cold Drilling in Double-Walled Ammonia Tanks: Allows for the safe discharge of liquid ammonia remaining between the inner and outer walls of double-walled ammonia storage tanks.

Thanks to these innovative applications, technical gains were achieved in preventing raw material loss, ensuring sustainable resource management by eliminating incineration processes, increasing operational safety, and optimizing the preparation of tanks for periodic maintenance/inspection.
