Jak Eskinazi, Coordinator President of the Aegean Exporter Associations, noting that exporters come together once a year at general assemblies to present a vision, underlined that general assembly meetings are very valuable in terms of making decisions that guide Turkey's exports. Stating that they wish to remove general assemblies from the context of being meetings where budgets are discussed and decided, Eskinazi said: "Turkey should solve its employment problem through exports and ensure its growth through production and exports. Every production enterprise in Turkey should acquire the competence to export at least 50 percent of its production. An economy that grows through consumption and imports is like a cancerous body that is not treated. After a while it spreads throughout the body and death becomes inevitable. We are trying to structure our general assemblies in a way that will present a vision to Turkey. Since there is no election commotion at financial general assemblies, it provides a suitable ground for this purpose. In the past year we will discuss what we have done and what we have not done. We will shape the coming year's homework through the input we will receive from our general assembly members. We will listen to expert speakers on developments in the Turkish and global economies. I believe it will be a productive general assembly marathon," he said.Advertisement
