Aegean Exporters Win 10 Awards Seven firms from the Aegean Region received 10 awards at the "Export Champions Awards Ceremony" organised by the Turkish Exporters Assembly. The "2021 Export Champions Awards Ceremony" was held at the Istanbul Haliç Congress Centre with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Trade Dr. Mehmet Muş, Minister of Treasury and Finance Nurettin Nebati and Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank. In the aquatic products and animal products sector, KLC GIDA ÜRÜNLERİ İTH. İHR. VE TİC. A.Ş. retained Turkey's championship this year as well, with the award presented to Board Chair Sinan Kızıltan by Minister of Treasury and Finance Nurettin Nebati and former TİM Chair İsmail Gülle. In the fresh fruit and vegetable sector, UÇAK KARDEŞLER GIDA SER. ULUS. NAKL. PL. SAN. VE TİC. LTD. ŞTİ. achieved Turkey's Export Champion status for the fifth time this year. Firm partner Ali Uçak received the award from Minister of Treasury and Finance Nurettin Nebati and former TİM Chair İsmail Gülle. In the olive and olive oil sector, VERDE YAĞ BESİN MADDELERİ SAN. VE TİC. A.Ş. won this year's export championship. Board Chair Murat Türkal attended the ceremony to receive the award from Minister of Treasury and Finance Nurettin Nebati. In the tobacco sector, JTI TÜTÜN ÜRÜNLERİ SANAYİ A.Ş. became Turkey's export champion. Corporate Relations Director Zeynep Öztürk accepted the award on behalf of the firm. Among the top 10 exporters, TÜRKİYE PETROL RAFİNERİLERİ A.Ş. ranked third in Turkey, while TÜPRAŞ became Turkey's export champion in the chemical sector. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the award to Koç Holding Vice Chair Ali Koç. VESTEL TİCARET A.Ş., operating in Manisa, ranked as Turkey's fifth-largest exporting firm while maintaining this year's championship status in the electrical and electronics sector. Zorlu Holding Board Chair Ahmet Nazif Zorlu received the award from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. HABAŞ SINAİ VE TIBBİ GAZLAR İSTİHSAL ENDÜSTRİSİ A.Ş., operating in Izmir Aliağa, became Turkey's export champion in the steel sector while ranking ninth on the list of Turkey's largest exporting firms. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented the award to Board Chair Mehmet Rüştü Başaran.

We wish to see an increase in the number of our firms

Aegean Exporters Association Coordinator Chair Jak Eskinazi, expressing satisfaction with seven Aegean firms receiving 10 awards among Turkey's export champions, stated that they have developed projects in the areas of innovation, R&D, design, sustainability, digitalisation and vocational training to increase the number of Aegean firms among export champions in the coming years. Drawing attention to the fact that there are no exporter associations under the Aegean Exporters Association umbrella despite export champions in the chemical and electrical-electronics sectors operating in the Aegean Region, Eskinazi stated, "While approximately USD 30 billion in exports are made from the Aegean Region, around USD 10 billion of this export is recorded outside the Aegean Region. We believe that exporters operating in the chemical and electrical-electronics sectors should establish their own associations under the AEA umbrella. In addition to these two sectors, we want to establish an exporters association in the renewable energy equipment sector, in which the Aegean Region leads Turkey's production. Our efforts will continue for the number of associations within the AEA to increase to 15," Eskinazi said.
