Boğaziçi Scientists Receive TÜBA-GEBİP Award

This year, the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Outstanding Young Scientists Awards (GEBİP) were granted to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, Faculty Member at Boğaziçi University Department of Educational Sciences, and Dr. Kenan Tekin, Faculty Member at Boğaziçi University Department of Philosophy.

Doç. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk from Boğaziçi University Department of Educational Sciences and Dr. Kenan Tekin from Boğaziçi University Department of Philosophy have been awarded the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Outstanding Young Scientists Awards (GEBİP) for 2024.

The 2024 recipients of the International TÜBA Academy Awards, TÜBA Outstanding Young Scientists Awards, and TÜBA Scientific Work Awards, organized by the Turkish Academy of Sciences, have been announced.

In the award programme, which has been running for 9 years to contribute to the international recognition of the Turkish scientific community, Doç. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, Associate Professor at Boğaziçi University Department of Educational Sciences, and Dr. Kenan Tekin, Assistant Professor at Boğaziçi University Department of Philosophy, have been deemed worthy of the Outstanding Young Scientists Award (GEBİP) this year.

Two awards in education and philosophy

Doç. Dr. Mustafa Öztürk, Associate Professor at Boğaziçi University Department of Educational Sciences, commented on the award, stating: "Being deemed worthy of the TÜBA-GEBİP Award, representing the field of educational sciences with the project I submitted, and doing this through the research and development opportunities provided to us by Boğaziçi University is very valuable and gratifying for me."

Dr. Kenan Tekin, Assistant Professor at Boğaziçi University Department of Philosophy, emphasized the special significance for Turkey of being awarded in the field of philosophy. Dr. Tekin stated: "I can say that in recent years, the field of philosophy has not been sufficiently visible in some respects globally. From this perspective, I especially value TÜBA's recognition of me with this award in the field of philosophy. Being deemed worthy of such a prestigious award greatly motivates me for my future work and projects. I am proud."

The awards will be presented to the recipients by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the TÜBA-TÜBİTAK Science Awards Ceremony to be held at the Presidential Complex on 18 December.
