New Step in Energy Storage in Germany: Kontek Energy and terralayr Launch 55 MWh Portfolio

Kontek Energy has signed a strategic agreement with Germany-based energy flexibility provider terralayr for the implementation of three new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Lower Saxony. The partnership significantly expands Kontek's operational footprint in the European energy market, while positioning the group as a key EPC and engineering partner for large-scale energy storage investments.
Kontek Energy has signed a strategic agreement with terralayr, a Germany-based energy flexibility provider, to implement three new Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in Lower Saxony. This collaboration significantly expands Kontek's operational footprint in the European energy market, positioning the group as a key EPC and engineering partner for large-scale energy storage investments.
Strategic Infrastructure for the German Grid
Owned and invested in by terralayr, this portfolio is designed to enhance grid reliability through energy arbitrage and ancillary services. Through the integration of these high-capacity assets into the system, Germany's transition to a more flexible and renewable-based electricity system is being supported.
The projects are located across three separate sites in Lower Saxony and represent a combined capacity of approximately 23 MW / 55 MWh:
• Alfeld: 10.35 MW / 25 MWh (Commissioning Phase)
• Edemissen: 6.9 MW / 15 MWh (Construction Phase)
• Badbergen: 6.0 MW / 15 MWh (Construction Phase)
Synergy in Engineering and Supply Chain
As the leading engineering and project management partner, Kontek Energy is responsible for the technical implementation and seamless delivery of the facilities. The projects benefit from Maxxen Energy's integrated supply chain, offering shorter delivery times and high equipment standards, which play a critical role in meeting the stringent requirements of the German energy market.
Maxxen Energy's lean and integrated supply chain infrastructure provides significant advantages in speed, quality and operational efficiency while reducing delivery times. This approach establishes a scalable and sustainable foundation not only for current investments but also for planned future energy storage projects across Europe.
An Integrated and Robust Storage Portfolio for the European Energy System
Considered as a whole, these three projects form an integrated and robust energy storage portfolio that combines engineering discipline, operational expertise and supply chain agility. The collaboration between Kontek Energy, terralayr and Maxxen reflects a reliable and scalable approach aligned with the changing needs of the European energy system.
With this partnership, Kontek Group reaffirms its commitment to supporting international investors such as terralayr in scaling robust energy storage portfolios across Europe.
