Adana to Become a Production Hub Significant progress has been made in establishing organized industrial zones and small industrial sites that will position Adana as an investment attraction center and production hub in line with Turkey's investment, production, employment and export-focused growth strategy. Adana took its first steps in industry by processing numerous agricultural products, particularly cotton, grown in Çukurova's fertile lands. While maintaining its traditional production with the latest technologies, the city aims to become an attraction center through the establishment of 6 organized industrial zones, 6 small industrial sites and 4 organized industrial zone expansion projects planned for the region. Adana, currently home to Adana Organized Industrial Zone (AOSB), Kozan Organized Industrial Zone, Ceyhan Organized Industrial Zone, Food Specialization Organized Industrial Zone, Yumurtalık Free Zone, industrial areas planned by relevant municipalities under Law No. 3194, Doğu Yüreğir Small Industrial Site Phase 1, Seyhan Small Industrial Site, Wood Processing Small Industrial Site, Metal Processing Small Industrial Site, Kozan Small Industrial Site, Ceyhan Small Industrial Site and İmamoğlu Small Industrial Site, ranks among Turkey's important production centers with approximately 60,000-61,000 decares of production area. In the near future, Adana will establish Ceyhan Energy Specialization Industrial Zone, Ceyhan Mixed Organized Industrial Zone, Chemistry Specialization Organized Industrial Zone, Agriculture-Based Specialization Greenhouse Organized Industrial Zone, Aquaculture Organized Industrial Zone, SASA Individual Industrial Zone, AOSB Phase 4 Expansion Area, Tekstilkent, Shoemakers Site, Fuel Distributors Site, Furniture Makers Site, Sarıçam and Yüreğir Small Industrial Sites, Food Wholesalers, Printers, and Scrap Dealers Sites. With a total of 74,000 decares of new growth area, Adana aims to stand out in technology-intensive industrial products with production and design advantages.

Annual net positive contribution to foreign trade balance at USD 250 million level

Ceyhan Energy Specialization Zone was announced in the Official Gazette dated 17 October 2007 across 13,419 decares. Ceyhan Energy Specialization Zone holds the distinction of being the first industrial zone announced both in its sector and generally. The foundations of the Ceyhan Polypropylene Production Facility, to be built with USD 1.7 billion investment by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Ceyhan Energy Specialization Industrial Zone, were laid on 9 October 2021. One of Turkey's largest industrial investments to be undertaken by the private sector, the petrochemistry facility scheduled to begin production in 2025, will have an annual production capacity of 450,000 tons and will substitute 20 percent of imports while providing an annual net positive contribution to the foreign trade balance at USD 250 million level. The Ceyhan Polypropylene Production Facility will contribute to the Turkish economy in virtually every field with the raw materials it produces, from agriculture to defense industry, from automotive to construction, from consumer products to pharmaceutical and health sector. Infrastructure and permitting work continues on the Adana Ceyhan Yumurtalık Chemistry Specialization Organized Industrial Zone planned to be established within the boundaries of Adana's Ceyhan and Yumurtalık districts. The Chemistry Specialization Organized Industrial Zone was planned as a joint project with Adana Greater Municipality, Adana Chamber of Commerce, Adana Chamber of Industry, Adana Commodity Exchange, Ceyhan Chamber of Agriculture and Ceyhan Commodity Exchange, under the coordination of Adana Governorship. As Kocaeli Gebze Chemistry Specialization Organized Industrial Zone has reached 97 percent occupancy rate and no expansion possibilities remain, investors have begun searching for new investment areas. Ease of access to Anatolia and Southeast, proximity to international airport, TEM highway and railway, and ease of port utilization make Ceyhan Chemistry Organized Industrial Zone an attraction center.

Internal road infrastructure work in Ceyhan Mixed Organized Industrial Zone

Ceyhan Mixed Organized Industrial Zone acquired the identity of Turkey's 288th organized industrial zone following the resolution of the provincial boundary dispute in favor of Adana after years of deliberation. Internal road infrastructure work continues in Ceyhan Mixed Organized Industrial Zone, which holds strategic importance due to Yumurtalık Free Zone to its south, Ceyhan Energy Specialization Industrial Zone to its west, Erzin Organized Industrial Zone to its east, the presence of 4 ports and 2 docks in the zone, the highway connection road passing through its southern boundary, and the inter-city dual carriageway connection in Ceyhan. In Ceyhan Mixed Organized Industrial Zone Phase 1 area, land acquisition work has been completed with 64 companies filing investment requests. Phase 2 work has commenced with 55 companies filing investment requests and site selection finalization procedures are ongoing.

Sarıçam Adana Organized Industrial Zone expansion area

Expansion work continues at Adana Organized Industrial Zone, one of Turkey's largest organized industrial zones. Adana Organized Industrial Zone, built on non-arable land north of Yakapınar (Misis) on the Adana-Ceyhan D-400 highway, operates at 100 percent occupancy, providing employment to nearly 39,000 people across 478 businesses.
