9th International Cosmetics Congress Opens with Strong Attendance

The 9th International Cosmetics Congress opened with strong attendance at Antalya Titanic Deluxe Belek, hosted by the Cosmetics Manufacturers and Researchers Association (KÜAD). The congress serves as a strategic platform for discussing next-generation approaches that go beyond viewing cosmetics merely as physical care, bringing together science, nature, ethical production and sensory experience.
Turkey's Cosmetics Industry Writing a New Chapter
With changing consumer expectations, scientific advances and sustainability-focused transformation, the cosmetics sector is evolving towards a more holistic structure year after year. This transformation extends beyond simply introducing new products to the market, encompassing a broad perspective from ethical formulation approaches to neuroscience-based research, from environmentally compatible production models to sensory experiences.
In this context, the 9th International Cosmetics Congress organized under the theme "Holistic Cosmetics," hosted by the Association of Cosmetic Manufacturers and Researchers (KÜAD), started with strong participation at Antalya Titanic Deluxe Belek. The congress serves as a strategic platform discussing next-generation approaches that view cosmetics beyond physical care; bringing together science, nature, ethical production and sensory experience.
With growing international participation and multi-stakeholder structure, the congress demonstrates that Turkey is positioned at a global scale in the cosmetics field not only through production capacity but also through knowledge generation, innovation and sustainability vision.

Opening Remarks Charted the Sector's Roadmap
The opening remarks of the congress were delivered by:
-Avni Dilber, Director General of Consumer Protection and Market Monitoring, Ministry of Commerce,
-Adil Pelister, IKMIB Chair,
-Mehmet Ali Tombalak, TUBISAD Board Chair,
-Levent Kahrıman, KÜAD Board Chair
-Fuat Arslan, KÜAD Congress Chair and Board Member
Digital Advertising and New Regulations Will Enhance Competitive Power
Avni Dilber, Director General of Consumer Protection and Market Monitoring at the Ministry of Commerce, highlighted the critical importance of speed and adaptation in the global competitive environment, stating:
"It is no longer the big fish that swallows the small fish, but the fast fish that swallows the slow fish. Today approximately 75% of advertising takes place in digital channels and regulating this field has become inevitable. We plan to implement new regulations covering artificial intelligence, influencer marketing and targeted advertising in the near term."
Dilber emphasized that effective consumer protection is possible through sector protection.
Holistic Cosmetics as a Strategic Imperative for the Chemical Sector
IKMIB Chair Adil Pelister stated that holistic cosmetics is not a trend but a strategic imperative shaping the sector's future:
"Changing consumer expectations make criteria such as clean content, scientific confidence, transparent supply chains and low environmental footprint mandatory. In the chemical sector's 2050 vision, sustainable production and science-based R&D investments rank among priority goals."
Pelister noted that IKMIB will continue supporting the sector's transformation, particularly through the Chemistry Technology Center.
Chemical Sector Leads Technology in Exports
TUBISAD Board Chair Mehmet Ali Tombalak, drawing attention to the economic strength of the chemical sector, stated:
"The chemical sector has approximately USD 80 billion in size and nearly USD 30 billion in exports, while the technology sector's exports are at the USD 3.5 billion level. Artificial intelligence stands before us as the third major revolutionary transformation. Should Turkey evaluate this transformation through an integration approach, it can create global brands in strong sectors."
Success in Cosmetics Is Now Measured by Value Creation
KÜAD Board Chair Levent Kahrıman emphasized that success criteria in the sector have changed:
"Today success in the cosmetics sector is measured by sustainable, reliable and meaningful value creation. The holistic cosmetics approach represents a lasting transformation for the sector. Turkey has the potential to realize this transformation with its scientific infrastructure and production capacity."
Holistic Cosmetics as a Lasting Paradigm Shift
KÜAD International Cosmetics Congress Chair Fuat Arslan summarized the transformation created by holistic cosmetics in the sector with these words:
"The consumer no longer just wants to look good; they want to feel good, be in balance and feel secure. Holistic cosmetics transforms the entire ecosystem from production to packaging, from supply chain to the relationship built with the consumer. Anatolia's healing culture and natural wealth, reinterpreted through scientific methods, is differentiating Turkish cosmetics at a global scale."
Arslan noted that the congress represents an important threshold in communicating Turkish cosmetics to the world.
