New Biomedical Research Institute Launches Arena BioWorks announced the launch of a biomedical research institute with a mission to uncover disease mechanisms by conducting foundational biological research to be transformed into vital biotechnological therapeutics. Inspired by the success of Bell Labs, Arena BioWorks is a dual-purpose organization aiming to create social benefit through the establishment of nonprofit biotechnology companies and generate long-term sustainable impact. Located in a state-of-the-art facility in Kendall Square, the biotech hub in Cambridge, MA, the institute will collaborate globally to maximize societal benefit worldwide. As part of its new model, discovery and company building will occur seamlessly under a single roof. Relying solely on private funding, Arena will be able to rapidly transform insight into discovery, unlike traditional models.
