LANXESS Ranks First in DJSI Europe

LANXESS ranked first in the "Chemicals" category in Europe on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) with a score of 79 out of 100. LANXESS also placed third in the global DJSI rankings. The company achieved particularly strong results in climate strategy, water, product stewardship and occupational safety categories. In November, ratings agency MSCI ESG confirmed LANXESS's AA rating for the third consecutive time. This positions the specialty chemicals company among the leading companies in the "Diversified Chemicals" sector. Additionally, EcoVadis approved LANXESS's platinum sustainability rating in August. This rating is awarded to the top 1 percent among more than 100,000 companies rated by EcoVadis. Hubert Fink, Member of the Board of Management of LANXESS AG, stated: "We want to actively shape the transformation of the sector and global value chains, thereby contributing to a more sustainable future. Our ranking in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and the strong ratings from MSCI ESG and EcoVadis underscore that we are on the right track." Both the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and MSCI ESG assess companies on environmental, social and governance criteria. EcoVadis evaluates companies in the areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. LANXESS aims to make its entire value chain climate-neutral and therefore expanded its sustainable product portfolio further in 2023. The raw material base of the plasticizer Mesamoll was modified to consist of 30 percent sustainable raw materials. Sulfur-based carrier additives under the Additin brand are also based on locally sourced, renewable raw materials. Additionally, the Flavors and Fragrances business unit plans to offer sustainable product variants across its entire aroma and fragrance portfolio, preservatives and animal feed products. Sustainable versions of many polyols and oxidation products are also available. LANXESS markets its most sustainable products under the "Scopeblue" umbrella brand. Scopeblue labels products that are based on more than half renewable raw materials or have a carbon footprint less than half that of similar products made from conventional raw materials. Source
