Claros Technologies selected to participate in Tech Founders Accelerator Program to capture and recover high-demand metals. The Tech Founders Accelerator program has selected Claros Technologies to work with Lanxess, a German multinational specialty chemicals company, to develop solutions for capturing and recovering valuable metals used in electric batteries such as lithium, cobalt, cadmium and nickel. Claros is one of only 10 European and U.S. startups selected to participate in the 16th cohort of the international startup accelerator. Tech Founders was founded in 2015 to support corporate innovation by fostering connections between startups and leading global companies, providing coaching and a EUR 25,000 project budget. Over the 20-week program, Dr. John Brockgreitens, research and development director at Claros, will work with the Lanxess team to implement Claros' technology platform to deliver new functionality in Lanxess' ion exchange resins. "This partnership exemplifies how a circular economy can transform the environment and the way business is done," said Brockgreitens. "Tech Founders identified Lanxess as a partner who shares our commitment to converting hazardous wastewater into clean, high-demand products such as water and metals like lithium and cadmium. This project will clean wastewater and thus safely enable mining to be replaced with the rare metals required for electric vehicles and high-tech consumer products.
