Cargill Acquires Polyols from BioBased Technologies

Cargill announced that it has acquired BioBased Technologies' plant-based polyol product group Agrol and other assets, strengthening its biobased polyol product portfolio. Cargill's Industrial Specialties business and BioBased Technologies are leaders in the development of soy-based polyols that replace petroleum-based polyols and enable manufacturers to produce more sustainable products for consumers. Cargill BiOH product group produces biobased polyols in various flexible foam markets, such as bedding, furniture and automotive seating. BioBased Technologies supplies natural polyols to the foam sector and other industrial markets. Through this acquisition, BioBased Technologies' unique processing model and Cargill's global manufacturing capabilities are combined, thereby strengthening the sustainable chemistry expertise of both organizations. Going forward, Cargill will be able to offer its customers products containing higher natural polyol levels that reduce dependence on petroleum polyols without compromising performance. Additionally, this acquisition will enable Cargill to expand beyond the foam market into applications in industries such as elastomers, sealants, coatings, binders and adhesives, advancing sustainability efforts in these sectors.
