Weather- and UV-Resistant Epoxies for the Construction Sector

 

Hydrogen-saturated bisphenol A type epoxy resins.

Yellowing

Epoxies yellow or chalk when exposed directly to sunlight. This yellowing can be a real problem for some applications. In pigmented epoxies color fading or shifts occur, while in clear epoxies yellowing occurs and cloudiness may develop. For this reason, epoxies are sometimes coated with latex, urethanes and polyaspartics to preserve their colors and attractive gloss. Causes Resins: Aromatic bisphenol A and F structure. Hardeners: Amine type, modified type, accelerator type.  

Applications

• In areas exposed to sunlight and continuous ambient light, • Where color stability and color vibrancy are important and yellowing resistance is desired, • Decorative floor coating, 3D flooring, • Colored and transparent stone coatings, • Recommended for use in kitchens, bathrooms and decorative table coatings. ARADUR 20317: A modified cycloaliphatic polyamine hardener. Recommended for applications where yellowing resistance is required. Particularly suitable for non-aromatic epoxy coatings in combination with liquid epoxy resins such as DY-T. Its exceptionally low tendency toward yellowing and chalking and mechanical stress are preferred compositions in formulations.
