Trias™ – New Generation in Triple Roll Technology
Bühler was founded on 10 February 1860 by Adolf Bühler with two employees at a foundry located in Gupfen/Uzwil. In 1871, a mechanical workshop was added, and one year later the first casting cylinders were produced.
In addition to Bühler cylinder castings, the company gradually began manufacturing its own cylinder-type mills and complete grain mills.
Today, Bühler has evolved into a technology company providing facilities and equipment for the conversion of grain into flour and animal feed, pasta and chocolate production, press casting machines for the production of press-cast parts, and processes such as wet grinding and dispersion. However, Bühler's expertise in cylinders has remained unchanged.
Bühler's three-roll mills are recognized as the preferred solution in wide-ranging applications such as printing inks and high-viscosity products.
Although developed for the efficient production of printing inks, over the years collaborative work with customers has revealed new fields of application in digital and high-tech industries.
The experience gained has been utilized in the development of a new generation three-roll mill series with innovative machine design. These efforts have resulted in the Trias machine series. Trias represents Bühler's commitment to further developing technologies that have proven themselves over a long period.
Reliability, high raw material throughput, and appropriate dispersion of temperature-sensitive products are key characteristics of Bühler three-roll mills. Bühler three-roll mills demonstrate superiority over other technologies in terms of the gloss properties of printing inks.
Bühler solutions enable contamination-free production of precision products. With different cylinder materials and concepts, clean-room production can be achieved in compliance with international standards.
With the Trias three-roll mill generation, industry standards are being set in terms of operational reliability and offering a wide range of applications for the production of high-viscosity products.
Maximum Product Output
The Trias300 series is designed for producing up to 75 litres per hour from batches of less than one litre. The next size, Trias600, can achieve product output quantities of two to 150 litres per hour. With the Trias800, the series' product output capacity has been further increased, making values of up to 300 litres per hour possible.VIVA – unrivalled cylinder system
VIVA bombless three-roll mills enable reliable operation for different requirements and different cylinder pressures. Unlike conventional cylinders, Bühler VIVA cylinder technology is designed for different cylinder pressures and to cover all cylinder pressure ranges. With VIVA cylinder technology, equal product quality is guaranteed throughout the entire cylinder length regardless of cylinder pressure. As a result, comprehensive and easily reproducible product quality is achieved, and at the same time there is a significant increase in productivity. With this technology, linear loads from 5 to 120 N/mm are provided by a precise and powerful cylinder pressure unit. Compared to conventional three-roll mills, these values are considerably broader for both low and high cylinder pressures. Products previously manufactured using gap operations can now be produced at low pressure ranges from 5 to 25 N/mm.Enhanced Cooling
In addition to the well-known reliability and robustness of the machines, the superior benefits offered by Trias are high raw material throughput and appropriate dispersion of temperature-sensitive materials. The proven cooling system has been further improved and refined. With an integrated cooling circuit and integrated heat exchanger, optimum cooling can be achieved even at high speeds. This enables the production of temperature-sensitive products even in high batch quantities. With VIVA cylinder technology, equal product quality throughout the cylinder is guaranteed regardless of the pressure applied. Advantages Maximum product output; • Trias can reach very high cylinder speeds, • A very wide cylinder pressure range can be used, High cooling capacity, • Optimum cooling is guaranteed with temperature-sensitive products through a closed cooling system, reproducible and consistent product quality, • Consistent and reproducible product quality is ensured through automatic control of cylinder pressure and gap, • Products previously manufactured using gap operations are produced at low cylinder pressure independent of operator input. Safe and easy operation, • High operator safety in compliance with the latest workplace safety regulations, • Process visualization with WinTrend data recording system, thereby supporting quality control.
