Silentstik: SMP-Based Acoustic Parquet Adhesive
Product Description
Silentstik is a single-component, ready-to-use, general-purpose, high-performance SMP-based parquet adhesive used for bonding all types of parquet and wood (hornbeam, beech, birch, bamboo, etc.), strip and mosaic parquet, precision floorboards, engineered wood, and absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces. It provides 19dB acoustic insulation against impact noise.Application Areas
• Concrete, sand/cement screeds, anhydrite screeds, • Levelled subfloors, • Plywood and wood-based material subfloors applied to the ground.Properties
• No waiting time required. • Water-free, therefore does not cause damaging effects such as swelling in wood. • Contains no solvents or isocyanates. • Environmentally friendly. A+ = Very low emission class. • Suitable for underfloor heating and cooling systems. • Permanently elastic at temperatures between -40°C and +120°C. • High bonding strength. • Adhesive residues on parquet floors are easily removed. • Retains initial elasticity after pressure or stretching. • Does not cause corrosion on metal floors. • Acoustic testing report from FCBA (Official French Technical Institute) 07/CTBA – IBC/ PHY/149/1/D. Impact acoustic insulation delta Lw= 19dB • Thermal Resistance: 0.08 m² °K/WNotes
• Store parquet in a dry place. • Do not apply parquet flooring if relative humidity exceeds 65%. • Underfloor heating systems must comply with applicable regulations. • Turn off heating 48 hours before installation. After laying the floor, wait at least one week before turning on heating and increase gradually. • SMP-based adhesive is very tacky; we recommend wearing gloves before use. • Suitable Parquet Dimensions: - Solid Wood Parquet: Widths between minimum 90 mm and maximum 120 mm and all thicknesses. - Engineered/Multilayer Parquet: All widths 90 mm and above and all thicknesses.Preparation Before Application:
• The application surface must be sound, flat, smooth, dry, and free of previous adhesive residues, mould oil, dust, grease, or other contaminating substances. • When coating over existing floor coverings, ensure the coverings are firmly fixed and clean. • Remove dirt, polish, grease and similar contaminating substances. • When more detailed substrate preparation is required, highly absorbent surfaces should be primed with appropriate Bostik primers to reduce consumption and obtain a substrate with homogeneous balanced absorption. • Adequate dryness must be ensured on the application surface; otherwise, prime with Eponal 336 Moisture Barrier. • Before applying the adhesive, always ensure that primers and base coats are thoroughly dry.Application
• Pour Silentstik along the wall line. • Using the Silentstik spatula (at 20–30 degrees angle), draw it across the surface in a straight line. • Adhesive application must be perpendicular to the continuation lines of the boards. • When continuing adhesive application, maintain continuity of beads from the previous application. • Bond the wood parquet and apply pressure for 40 minutes during application. • Open to foot traffic after 24 hours. Before this, pressure-reducing plates may be used to allow leaving the room. • After use, tightly close all container lids.Post-Application Cleaning
Tools and spills should be cleaned with methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) or acetone, preferably while the adhesive is still wet.Consumption
Applied with Silentstik spatula. Depending on surface evenness and absorbency: 1.60 - 2.00 kg/m². Consumption amounts are theoretical values; we recommend carrying out a controlled sample application before use.Packaging
15 kg plastic bucket. (3 bags x 5kg.)Storage
• Original packaging must be protected from water, frost, and severe weather conditions. • Damaged or open packaging must be sealed immediately and consumed first. • Stack maximum 3 buckets on top of each other. • When stored on wooden pallets in cool, dry, moisture-free conditions between +10°C and +30°C in original packaging, storage life is maximum 18 months.Safety Precautions
According to general construction rules and safety measures, the Risk (H) and Precaution (P) rules defined in the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) must be observed during application. Suna Ayvazoğlu Marketing Manager BostikAdvertisement
