Protecting Structures from External Factors
In the construction sector, sandwich panels are widely used as a durable and long-lasting thermal insulation material in roof and facade coverings of factories, shopping centers, cold storage rooms, prefabricated buildings and similar structures. The polyurethane (PUR) foam systems supplied by Flokser Kimya are applied as filling between two thin metal sheets to create sandwich panels. In continuous production processes, panels can be manufactured with 2, 3, 4 or 5 components (polyol, isocyanate, catalyst, pentane, additives) using Creapol RC 2410-38, Creapol RC 2425-40, Creapol RC 2410-40 and Creapol RC 2449-30 products, while in batch production processes, panels can be manufactured with 2 components (polyol, isocyanate) using Creapol RC 2210-30 product. Sandwich panel densities range from 26-42 kg/m³, while thicknesses vary between 40-200 mm. In addition to PUR-filled panels that can be produced in various thicknesses and densities, Flokser Kimya also offers fire-resistant panels according to TS EN 13501 standard with the Creapol RC 3430-40 product, which has enhanced fire-retardant properties and a PIR (polyisocyanurate) structure. The PUR and PIR foams used in panels have minimum 80 kPa strength according to ISO 844 standard, which increases the durability of the structure, while their closed-cell structure demonstrates excellent thermal insulation properties. With thermal conductivity values of 20-24 mW/mK according to ASTM C 518 standard, the superior insulation performance reduces heating costs while also reducing CO2 emissions caused by conventional energy sources used to generate heat.Preserving Thermal Energy
Polyurethane systems are the most commonly used insulation material in domestic and industrial refrigerators, water heaters and solar energy collectors due to their high thermal insulation properties. The PUR systems supplied by Flokser Kimya are applied by injection method and, as they perfectly fill the indentations and protrusions of the applied area, no voids remain and thermal bridges are not compromised. Due to the structure of PUR foam in Creapol RF 1132-25, Creapol RF 1144-25 and Creapol RF 1130-25 systems, with thermal conductivity values of 18-21 mW/mK according to ASTM C 518 standard, these products preserve cold air inside and play an important role in determining energy classes for refrigerators. In addition to insulation properties, solar energy collectors found on building roofs—unlike refrigerators or thermosiphon-type products in homes—are exposed to more challenging seasonal variations. The Creapol RD 1242-38 product used in solar energy collector storage tanks to preserve the temperature of water heated by solar energy has dimensional stability according to DIN EN 2786 standard with a change of less than 1%, as expected from other injection products. Flokser Kimya sprayable polyurethane foam systems are 2-component systems that can be easily applied to desired areas using high-pressure equipment. Sprayable PUR systems applied at a 1:1 volume ratio can easily adhere to surfaces such as concrete, wood, OSB and metal. Primer application as a thin layer before application provides more effective adhesion on cold surfaces. Polyurethane spray systems provide gap-free insulation of uneven surfaces and corner joints without thermal bridges in applications such as storage, tents, decks, attics, ceiling concrete application, and tank-silo insulation. Two types of spray polyurethane foam systems are offered to the market: open-cell and closed-cell. Open-cell polyurethane foams (Creapol RS 2323-08 and Creapol RS 2320-18) expand approximately 100 times their volume to fill all voids. These products have a closed-cell ratio below 20% and are water-based and low-density. Applied densities range between 8 kg/m³ and 22 kg/m³. Due to their light weight, they stand out in some applications. They also provide minimal sound absorption properties. They are generally used in wall, ceiling and inverted roof applications where strength will not be applied. Additionally, due to their low density, they offer consumption advantages to consumers. Closed-cell polyurethane foams can be applied in almost all areas, unlike open-cell polyurethane foams. Thanks to the high compressive strength of Creapol RS 2323-30 above 200 kPa according to EN ISO 844, it can be easily used in load-bearing areas such as floor coverings and ceiling concrete applications. Flokser Kimya spray systems with free densities ranging between 22 kg/m³ and 55 kg/m³ have a closed-cell ratio of at least 90% according to EN ISO 4590 standard. Thermal conductivity coefficients range between 25 mW/mK and 28 mW/mK according to ASTM C 518 standard. Due to their closed-cell structure, water absorption capacity is below 0.2 kg per square meter.
