Universal Pilot Production Units for Laboratory Mixers

KPM Mühendislik was established in 2011 to provide services in the manufacturing of chemical and process machinery and the installation of industrial facilities, following many years of accumulated experience. Our company serves sectors including paints and paint raw materials, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food, mineral oils and construction chemicals; and manufactures reactors, mixers, blenders, distillation columns, tube heat exchangers, dissolvers, dispersers, column mixers, laboratory mixers, universal pilot production units, silos, storage tanks, mobile boilers, bag filters, autoclaves, filling machines and many other products, which we then install on-site and commission. Small-volume laboratory mixers, which are essential for virtually every production facility, and low-capacity pilot production units, which are in many respects miniatures of a normal production facility, provide considerable advantages to operators in many ways. The reactors in these miniature facilities can be designed in desired volumes ranging from 50 L to 500 L. Based on the selected reactor volume, the capacities of other equipment (blender, column, condenser, decanter, heating and cooling system, vacuum system, etc.) are calculated and engineered.

Pilot units offer the possibility of working with minimum raw material quantities during the recipe formulation process in R&D work, while at the same time providing minimum energy consumption and operational ease of use.

In cases of faulty production or incorrect recipe application, it is possible to achieve both economical and problem-free results with very low quantities of raw material loss. We can manufacture Pilot Production Units for our customers' direct use purposes, as well as produce them in universal type to enable multi-purpose production. We mount Universal Pilot Production Units on our specially designed 2 or 3-tier platforms and deliver them in compact form. Dimensions are determined to permit international transportation. Due to the modular design, it can be loaded into a truck in disassembled condition and, following transportation, can be assembled very easily by bolted connection. The unit is delivered ready for production, complete with a reactor, distillation column, condenser, decanter, blender, filters, pumps, heating system, cooling system, vacuum system, internal piping, PLC-controlled control panel and internal wiring, all as found in a chemical facility. Our customers operating this universal pilot production unit do not require any other resources; they simply need to connect the main power supplies and can begin production immediately. Pilot Production Units are manufactured as Ex-proof or non Ex-proof depending on demand. Since flammable and explosive chemicals are commonly used in the chemical sector, our customers typically request Ex-proof units. In this case, Atex-certified Ex-proof equipment is used within the unit. We use hot oil as the heating system in our units. Hot oil is produced in a hot oil generator powered by a specially designed resistance system, and is circulated in the system by hot oil pumps located within the system itself. For the cooling system, depending on the unit's requirements, we connect branch lines from the cooling tower or chiller system at our customers' facilities. For facilities with no cooling system, we couple a compact chiller unit to our unit. In our automation system, we use Siemens S7-1200 as the PLC, Siemens for touchpad panels, ABB for drives and Siemens or Schneider branded products for all other switching equipment.
