PPG PITT-CHAR® NX

Fire-resistant coating systems are coating systems used to increase the fire resistance of structures and protect them during fires. PPG PITT-CHAR® NX is a two-component coating system composed of epoxy resin and amine hardener. A two-component coating system is a coating method where epoxy resin and amine hardener are used together. This system creates a hard surface resulting from the combination of epoxy resin and amine hardener components. Epoxy resin is used for adhesion, durability and corrosion resistance properties, while the amine hardener accelerates the reaction and initiates the curing process. Epoxy resin is a thermoset polymer composed of several different chemical compounds. This resin is combined with hardening agents for durability and adhesion properties. Amine hardener is generally known as an agent used for curing epoxy resin. When amines are mixed with epoxy resin, they accelerate the reaction and initiate the curing process. These coatings can be applied to metal, concrete, wood, ceramic and many other surfaces. These components are resistant to high temperatures and provide long-term fire protection. The coating system is applied over a base layer made of stainless steel material that can withstand the effects of high temperatures. Fire resistance duration can reach up to 120 minutes depending on coating thickness, building material and fire classification.
