Kahyaoğulları's Licensed Recovery Operations Kahyaoğulları's journey with waste began in 1992, when regulations were insufficient and there was no common language or understanding of waste management. Trading in recyclable industrial scrap was underway, and Kahyaoğulları began to engage in this business. Kahyaoğulları took a pioneering role in Turkey in 2005 by obtaining a license to recover contaminated industrial packaging classified as hazardous waste. Kahyaoğulları is among the pioneering companies in the licensing of recovery firms. When Kahyaoğulları obtained its license and began drum, IBC and canister recovery at its facility in İDOSB, the sector was largely uncontrolled. The quality of the cleaning process, where residual waste and wash water contaminated with hazardous substances were disposed, could not be tracked. Kahyaoğulları entered the market as a licensed recovery firm with substantial accumulated experience. This pioneering step by Kahyaoğulları shaped the industrial packaging recovery market in the short term ahead. In terms of methods and technology used, Kahyaoğulları became an expression of both firsts and uniqueness. Kahyaoğulları recovers industrial packaging materials such as IBCs, metal drums, plastic drums and plastic canisters, coded as 150110 in the regulations, and prepares them for reuse in accordance with the terminology later entered into the regulations. Within the course of the regulations, IBCs were eventually addressed under the "Tanker Cleaning Notice". This work requires a highly effective waste management consciousness and practice. Kahyaoğulları carries out full waste management activities for the waste group mentioned. It collects waste from where it is generated, transports it to its licensed facility with licensed vehicles, sorts it there, processes it through procedures defined according to contamination content and type, and renders these industrial packaging containers reusable by remedying form defects and cleaning residues. If there is damage that prevents reuse, the packaging material is prepared for material recovery. Metal or plastic is sold to licensed facilities for further recycling. The buyers of reuse-ready packaging materials are predominantly from the chemical sector. All these processes generate hazardous and non-hazardous waste. These wastes are completely stored in accordance with regulations in the temporary storage area at our facility, and after being sorted there, hazardous wastes are sent to third-party licensed facilities for processing (material recovery, energy recovery, disposal). Thus the waste cycle is completed. Wastewater is also generated. This wastewater is pre-treated at our facility before being sent to the İDOSB treatment plant. Emission sources generated at the facility are managed in accordance with regulations, and emission measurements are performed at regular intervals. We believe that our existence is an important stage in the cycle of sustainable material and environmental management, and we are aware of the responsibility this brings.
