How Ionpure Works
Ionpure inhibits bacterial proliferation and growth in cable and plastic materials. By controlling and eliminating bacterial growth, Ionpure also prevents the polymer itself from deteriorating. When bacteria, mold, rust disease and other microorganisms that cause staining, odor and product degradation come into contact with the product surface, Ionpure penetrates the microbial cell wall, disrupting core cellular functions, rendering the microorganism incapable of performing its functions, growing or multiplying. As a potent antimicrobial agent, Ionpure provides complete and reliable protection. Ionpure also demonstrates its effect when in contact with atmospheric moisture. In the presence of moisture, the glass matrix gradually breaks down and Ionpure's silver ion becomes available. One of Ionpure's unique properties is that its effectiveness is independent of the amount of Na present. As long as moisture is present in the air, the glass matrix will continue to gradually break down and release silver ions.
Ionpure Characteristics
Compared to its organic counterparts, Ionpure is an inorganic antimicrobial with significantly higher characteristics and generally superior properties. Ionpure is an antimicrobial resistant to 500°C temperatures. Undeteriorating and FDA and EPA-approved for cable and plastic production. Suitable for the pharmaceutical and food industry. Withstands high acidic and high alkaline conditions. 100% non-volatile. More sensitive to skin and the human body.
Ionpure Tests & Certifications
Ionpure has been tested in JNLA-Certified laboratories in Japan (laboratories with validity in Japan). Our customers who wish to have Ionpure tested in an independent third-party laboratory are free to do so. All costs of such testing in third-party laboratories will be borne by the requesting customers.
Coating/Paint Applications
Ionpure can be mixed into solvent-based and water-based coatings. To prevent agglomeration or clumping of the resulting substance, Ionpure should be added slowly to the application liquid. In solvent-coating, Ionpure maintains its integrity for an extended period. However, in water-based paint applications, the coating should be applied immediately after Ionpure is added to the paint, because the longer Ionpure remains in wet paint, the weaker its effectiveness in water-based paint will become.
Compound/Master Batch Applications
In some applications, preparation of a master batch is required first. Following preparation of Ionpure's master batch or compound, this compound can be applied via a hopper just as in a colored master batch.
Example Master Batch Ratios
Master batches prepared using Ionpure typically contain 20% Ionpure and 80% resin. Consequently, the application ratio can be said to be 2.5-3.0% in terms of Ionpure concentration. However, master batches prepared with Ionpure at 50% ratio also exist. 20% is generally a good starting ratio, and it is always possible to increase this ratio based on production demand and capacity. ABS and PC master batches require higher concentrations.
Anti-Fungal and Anti-Mold
Ionpure can also be used in anti-fungal applications; however, the dosage used in these applications differs from that used in antimicrobial applications. Fungi are significantly more potent organisms compared to bacteria. Therefore, much higher doses are required in anti-fungal applications. Low doses such as 0.3% or 0.5% will not be sufficient. If you are considering using Ionpure as an anti-fungal, your application ratio should be between 3% and 5%.
Different Ionpure Types
Ionpure WPA
• Registered with EPA in the United States (Non-food). • Registered with FDA in the United States. • Available in different particle sizes (<5, <10, <50). • 5 is typically used in fiber applications (particularly PA). • 10 is typically used in general coating applications (including powder coating). • 50 is typically used in types with small particle size (we recommend this type for artificial marble).
Ionpure IPL
• Registered with EPA in the United States (Non-food). • Registered with FDA in the United States. • Registered with EFSA in the EU. • Particle size is 40. • Generally used in injection molding applications.
Ionpure ZAF
• Registered with EPA in the United States (Non-food). • Particle size <5. • Generally used in fiber applications (PET fiber). Also used in water-based paint.
Ionpure IP
• Registered with FDA. • Not registered with EPA. • Silver-based antimicrobial agents. • Similar to IPL. • Particle size <40. • Compatible with many base polymer types. • Injection molding and/or extrusion. The difference in each type stems from the use of different glass matrices in them. Some glass matrices dissolve easily, while others do not. We control Ionpure's effective duration by the melting rate of the glass matrix. Before recommending a specific Ionpure type to our customers, we discuss and evaluate their needs and considerations such as base polymer, application and usage environment.  
Ionpure Packaging
Ionpure powder is placed in flat polyethylene bags and sealed. To eliminate the possibility of moisture exposure, these polyethylene bags are placed in an aluminum case and sealed. The aluminum case is visibly labeled. During shipping, Ionpure aluminum cases are placed in carton boxes. Our customers should store the Ionpure boxes they receive in this manner in a dark and cool place as specified in the MSDS.
Packaging Dimensions
• Bags weighing 15/20 kg are placed in a carton box. • The carton box dimensions are 410 x 260 x 420 (mm). • Net weight is 15 or 20 kg. • Gross weight is 16.3 or 21.3 kg. • Pallet dimensions are 1110 x 1110 x 1250 (mm). • One pallet can contain up to 600 kg of product. • One pallet can accommodate up to 30 carton boxes of 20 kg. • The number of 15 kg carton boxes one pallet can hold is 40.

Ionpure Shelf Life
When stored unopened in a cool and dark environment, Ionpure's shelf life is 6 months from the date of shipment.
Free Testing by Ishizuka in Japan
Required information on this matter is provided below: 1. Panel plate larger than 5x5 cm. 2. Ishizuka conducts two bacterial tests: one for E. coli and the other for Staph aureus (Please send two separate samples for each concentration (%) level; this way the test will be conducted with two samples). 3. Should we encounter technical difficulties during testing, we may request that you send additional plates if possible. 4. Please specify which of the samples you sent is the control sample. 5. If you wish your samples to also be tested against the control sample, please specify which one is the control sample so that Ishizuka can compare the live bacterial count with those in the control samples. 6.
