When used alone or in combination with TiO2 and colour pigments, it can provide various benefits to paint formulations and plastic production. Precipitated Barium Sulfate is a barium sulfate product with original particle size, synthesized by controlling the chemical reaction between high-purity barium sulphite and sodium sulfate solution (BaS + Na2SO4 → BaSO4↓ + Na2S). Precipitated barium sulfate is used as a white pigment for paints and coatings (including paper, plastic and polymer applications) and as an inert filler for adhesives, putties, plastics and rubbers. It also functions as a flux agent in ceramic glazes. Due to its extremely fine particle size and high brightness, it is also used in cosmetics, toothpaste and other personal care products. Paints and primers represent the largest use for filler-grade barite (barium sulfate). Micronized barite with high brightness is used as an extender to provide the weight customers associate with quality and due to low binder demand for high loadings. Synthetic barium sulfate is used as a filler and additive in all wet paint and powder coating processes. The product's application areas include frequent use in powder coatings, paste/pigments, marine paints, wood paints, anti-corrosive paints and general industrial paint production.
