Art on the Street at Near East University!

On 15 April, World Art Day, art takes to public spaces to meet people in the streets. Throughout the year, the Near East University Campus, resembling an open-air museum, brings art to art lovers outdoors every single day! Every 15 April, World Art Day is celebrated internationally, with the aim of bringing art into public spaces and onto the streets to meet people. The Near East University Campus, which resembles an open-air museum, showcases art with the public year-round, not just for a single day. Over 100 bronze sculptures created by the Near East University Sculpture Workshop are on display throughout the campus. Sculptures representing different fields make art a natural part of daily life not only for university students but for everyone who visits the campus.

Over 100 monumental sculptures on display

The horses placed in the green area in the middle of the test-drive track located directly in front of GÜNSEL Production Facilities showcase GÜNSEL's environmental approach, being 100 percent electric. The bull sculptures welcoming visitors along the road to the production facilities symbolize GÜNSEL's strength. Among the other sculptures on the Near East University Campus are athlete figures from sports such as athletics, basketball and golf. Within the campus, dancer sculptures that catch the eye with dance figures accompany the athlete sculptures. The ballerina sculptures at the entrance to Atatürk Cultural Centre reference the cultural centre's commitment to art. In front of the Near East University Hospital, Near East Pre-School, Near East College and many other faculty buildings within the campus, there are sculpture figures that are identified with these institutions.

Art at the heart of life on the Near East University Campus!

On the Near East University Campus, where a vibrant art atmosphere is experienced, the Cyprus Car Museum, the island's only classic automobile museum, the Cyprus Herbarium and Natural History Museum, which offers the chance to see the island's natural history under one roof with a rich variety of materials reaching 35,000 items, the Cyprus Modern Art Museum, which brings together contemporary art examples in different forms, particularly painting and sculpture, and the Günsel Office Museum are also housed. Near East University, which has made art an integral part of campus life, is also bringing art to the streets of the TRNC. The Lefkoşa Walled City Museum and the Günsel Art Museum located in Dereboyu, on the one hand bring visitors together with art while on the other hand convey art to the streets with the sculptures located directly in front of the museum. The Girne University campus, Near East Bank Headquarters Building, Near East University Yeniboğaziçi campus and Dr. Suat Günsel Girne College campus make art visible in everyday life through the sculptures they host. The number of sculptures that have emerged from the Near East University Sculpture Workshop and found their place on the streets of the TRNC, together with those on the campus, exceeds 200.
